About me
Qualifications and Experience
As an Accredited Psychotherapist in private practice she works with individuals to enable clients to develop their self-awareness and find insights and solutions that are unique and empowering for them. In addition to generalised counselling, she is specialist in counselling sex addicts and sex offenders.
STEPHANIE JEANS has the following qualifications:
· Masters in Counselling, University of Nottingham
· Level 5 Diploma in Sex & Pornography Addictions Counselling, Institute for Sex Addictions Training
· Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, East Midlands Counselling Training
· Diploma in Clinical Supervision, Counselling Xtra
· BA (English and History) University of Cape Town
· HDE (English and History) University of Cape Town
In addition to her general practice and additional sex addictions specialisation, she has further trained to work with individuals who may be under investigation for sexual offences, at risk of straying into illegal activity, or those who have already been convicted. Auxiliary related training has included, but not limited to:
· COFRA 121 Compassions Focused Risk Aware: therapy program for managing sexual risk (StopSo)
· Risk assessment - Working therapeutically with individuals convicted or accused of sexual offending (StopSo)

She sees clients through a combination of self-referrals, Employee Assisted Programs (EAP’s), via StopSo or solicitors. In all her work she is an advocate of psychoeducation and raising awareness. To this end she delivers talks in varied forums on multiple therapeutic topics, such as sex addiction, bereavement, young people and mental health. She has been interviewed on BBC and other radio stations; appeared on television in discussion panels and been quoted in magazines and newspapers.
She maintains the following professional memberships:
· Accredited member of The National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCS22-03431)
· Member of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Addiction and Compulsivity (ATSAC)
· Registered with Specialist Treatment Organisation for the Prevention of Sexual Offending (StopSo)
