French and English Teacher
My name is Mervine Gowry and I'm a native French speaker.
I also teach English, but my main language is French.
I was born in Paris, and I've been living in Montreal, Zurich and Luxembourg as well, so I know a lot of different variations of french language.
I love to teach PRACTICAL skills, and French is a very complicated language to learn when you're just starting.
This is why I break it down into different small bites, so you don't get overwhelmed by the volume of knowledge you need to master.
Years of experience have showed me that the main struggle and pain point when it comes to French students, is pronunciation and to be able to speak French like people who live in France.
Textbooks and apps rarely show you how to deal with accents, slang, expressions, shortenings, and intonations, so new students quickly get lost...
I fell in love with French language a long time ago. And I'm saying this as a French man, born in Paris.
I was always fascinated by the richness of the language and its complexity. It takes some time to master all the nuances, and when you finally get more comfortable, you realize you still have so much more to grasp.
I've been teaching to adults over 75 and to kids aged 10, back in Paris, for so many years. As a certified FLE teacher, I've always felt a great pride and fulfillment by helping other people understand and speak French.
Over the years, I've realized that most French classes in english-speaking schools were teaching in a way that is outdated and impossible to implement in everyday life.
Thanks to technology, I can now reach more people and help them in a way that they can put into practice right away with the right words, expressions, tones, context. Students get full confidence because they can now speak the way French people do.
