In a remarkably diverse and successful career encompassing multiple industries and continents, Marv Russell, "The Linebacker in the Boardroom" has distinguished himself as an internationalist and a multilingual and multicultural professional; including living and working abroad eight years with multi-national companies. His career has spanned state and federal government, heavy industry, materials and packaging, pharmaceuticals, healthcare and not-for-profits organizations. He has proven success in the deployment of modern leadership, diversity and human capital development tools and techniques. Marv’s strong leadership combined with his people and business acumen are key to his ability to motivate, coach and create high performing leaders, organizations, and students and student-athletes.
Possessing the tenacity to persevere academic life combined with the rigors of Division 1 football, Marv was a successful student-athlete at the University of Notre Dame, and was a member of the university’s 1973 National Championship Team. He completed a master’s degree at Indiana University and is currently completing PhD studies in Business Technology and Leadership.
Marv is a globally experienced motivational speaker, leadership consultant, and workshop facilitator who has engaged audiences in the US and Europe on the topics of leadership, business culture, diversity and inclusion, business ethics and human resource practices. Audiences have been inspired and motivated by Marv’s vision of leadership, workplace development and including: state and local government, business professionals, collegiate and secondary academic institutions, athletic organizations, adolescent groups, religious audiences and non-profit community-based organizations. Through the implementation of cutting edge, passionate programs, and message delivery, Marv shares inspirational, humorous, and challenging personal experiences using audience engagement tools and techniques designed to motivate his audience to think and challenge them to succeed in every endeavor.
Marv taught as a Visiting Professor in International HR and Organizational Development: HEC: École des Hautes Études Commerciales de Paris (French equivalent to Harvard MBA), Paris, France; and has served as board president and member in various nonprofit organizations.
Marv’s most recent book Finding Your Internship: What Employers What You to Know is focused on the tools and techniques college students, people in career transition and others seeking to realize their career goals need to realize their professional potential. His first book, Linebacker in the Boardroom: Lessons in Life and Leadership, is a best-seller focused on developing what Marv defines as the “Essential Exceptional Ethical Leader: Creating a Sustainable Impact on the World Around You.”
