About me
Hi,
I'm Maria - Senior IT Recruiter & Team Manager.
I started my journey in recruitment over 6 years ago, and honestly - had no previous experience nor any idea what IT Recruitment was actually about. What I did know, was that I wanted to be close to the IT world and find a field where I could utilise my skills in communication, negotiation, marketing and learning. That curiosity led me to IT recruitment consultancy, which proved to be the right mix for me and has allowed me to grow from a junior consultant to a managerial position while successfully filling loads of IT positions along the way.
Throughout my recruitment career I have:
- Met hundreds of companies and observed their recruitment processes (both successful and unsuccessful ones)
- Talked to thousands of IT candidates - each sharing their knowledge, experience, and aspirations with me
- Reviewed countless job descriptions (even the “unicorn” ones)
- Solved multiple hiring challenges and disasters
- Created market analyses, talent mappings, and salary surveys
- Spoken at webinars, conferences and investor meetings
- Trained recruitment internally and externally
- Hired various Developers, DevOps Specialists, Cloud Engineers, Testers, Administrators, Analysts, Project Managers, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, IT Managers, Architects, SAP Consultants, and many more IT specialists across local and international markets
- Faced numerous candidate rejections, awkward meetings, interview no-shows, failed offers and withdrawn positions - whereas each failure taught me a valuable lesson and helped me to progress further
I started creating courses as I’ve always found great joy in sharing my knowledge - helping others learn from my experience and see the IT recruitment world from a new perspective.
Why choose my courses?
Simplicity: I still remember one of my first IT trainings delivered directly by an IT professional. It was amazing, everything he said sounded so cool and we all instantly felt like part of a Silicon Valley start up. Except that...nobody understood anything he said. “Agile” and “Typescript” remained buzzwords with no meaning or context.
That's why I structure my courses to be easy to understand while giving enough context to see the bigger picture. You don’t need to become an IT professional to succeed in IT recruitment, but it's crucial to understand how products are built, how teams cooperate, and what’s a programming language versus a development tool.
Real-life examples: Theory is important - but true learning comes from understanding real-life scenarios and mistakes of others (ideally without repeating them yourselves). Therefore I like to showcase specific examples in my course so you can imagine how the recruitment process works, what happens if you do “this” instead of “that,” and what best practise looks like in each case.
Focus on what matters: Recruitment is about people. People who have invested time to learn some new skill, who may be unsatisfied at their current job, who have dreams and preferences. Each person you will be working with deserves great recruitment process and positive candidate experience. That’s why in my courses I put focus on quality of communication and authenticity.
