Mahad al-Zahra, founded in 1976 is an institute of Qur'anic arts and sciences that functions as the Department of Memorization of the Holy Qur'an of Al Jamea tus Saifiyah, a 200 year-old Arabic academy headquartered in Surat, India. The institute has created an innovative research-based six-step memorization method which effectively covers all aspects of Qur'anic memorization from introduction to retention. It is a unique and unprecedented approach to hifz that supercedes the rote learning method and progresses into an awareness-centric program which results in deeper retention of the Qur'anic verses along with their contextual understanding.
