Growing up in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania as a self-taught artist, I've always been influenced by the African coast and landscapes and all that nature represents. The blues, greens and shifting sands have mesmerized me for years. As I paint, I try to capture landscapes and seascapes that will soon change as does the rapid economic growth in these places. In 2013 I took a break from my oil painting while travelling around the world for 18 months. I documented my travels with watercolors and sketches, creating 'quick' snapshots of the world around me. These snapshots were all compiled into a book, Sketching Safari Around the World, which is now sold on Amazon and shipped worldwide. I now live with my husband and two wild toddlers in Mississauga, Canada, where I continue painting a variety of subjects and landscapes, working in several different mediums. Our quiet country haven is amazing for experiencing the beauty of the xyz Lake and northern Rocky Mountain region, which are the main source of inspiration for my art. I'm continually inspired by my connection to nature, to people and especially to the water, which will always hold a special place in my heart as an artist and a creator. I've also just began an exciting new chapter teaching online painting courses! I am grateful to have this opportunity and an outlet to share about my passion for art, as well as painting tips and techniques to help people all around the world create their own beautiful masterpieces.
