My story is your story: I’ve been through loves and losses, contentment and upheaval, births and deaths, companionship and loneliness, security and fear, stagnation and growth, all through over half a century of constantly changing times. Sound familiar?
I was fourteen when Mom slipped (deliberately) into the sea, taking most of my family’s memories with her. I don’t have answers to many questions: What was my birth like? How did she meet Dad? Why did we move every year? These huge voids are what motivate me to help people get their stories down before they too are lost to the depths below.
I trained with The Writing Institute in Connecticut, established the York Simcoe Writer’s Circle, wrote several children/young adult books, and designed and conducted writing programs in schools and reminiscing groups in retirement homes. All of this led me to focus on the importance of memoirs. My investigative skills, writing style, and ability to get to the heart of the story is evident in the many autobiographies I then went on to ghostwrite for individual clients, some prominent in the entertainment industry, and now, with these videos, plus Biography Timeliner, I’m able to help everyone, everywhere, write their stories themselves, with confidence and flair.
To find any type of coach that one can relate to is tough, so let me describe who I am in one sentence: ‘Some of the best stories I’ve ever ghostwritten have been the simplest … life on the farm in rural Canada, growing up East Indian in Mombasa … and in all these stories, in your story too, one common thing leaps off the pages – the powerful, undefeatable, human spirit! And that’s what makes me tick!’ Sorry that ended up two sentences.
Life stories are the invisible strands that hold our DNA together. Without our stories, we drift. With them, we anchor; connected forever to ourselves and to each other.
Come, take my hand …. let’s do this!
With Love, Lesley
