Hi, I’m Lee Garrett. 30 years ago my wife Becky and I wanted to grow our food and develop a food-self-sufficient lifestyle. We made small changes gradually, and now have two large gardens 60 x 60 feet and four 10 x 20 foot greenhouses.
We also grow grapes, and blueberries, and have a fruit tree orchard of 20 trees. In our progression, we made mistakes and also learned a lot along the way. And, we live in a harsh climate with a short growing season, near Yellowstone National Park which has made this challenging.
Now for the last 20 years, we have been food self-sufficient and would like to share our knowledge and experience with you. Even though this lifestyle is labor intensive at certain times, we love it and have tailored it to fit our idea of self-reliance. We encourage you to do the same, tailoring your new lifestyle to one you will enjoy and love.
Food self-sufficiency may seem like a lofty goal, but you don’t have to grow everything on your plate all at once. Becoming food self-sufficient is very empowering and creates a wonderful peace of mind. We have also found that this lifestyle is one of constantly learning and adapting.
