Kathy Crawley

Kathy Crawley, a leading Art educator with more than 20 years experience.

Kathy Crawley is one of the founding partners of ‘sketchbookit’, an exciting and innovative new online art programme that places drawing at the heart of all great art practice.
Art has always been a huge passion in Kathy’s life. After successfully achieving a Fine Art degree, she lived abroad, in Greece and Portugal, running her own Art studios but also teaching and discovering another enduring passion: the role of educator.
Returning to the UK Kathy worked in a number of London schools teaching  DT and Graphics, after gaining a distinction in her post graduate teacher training course. The side step into graphics was in response to the shortage of female role models in the male dominated area of Design Technology. She became Head of department in Design Technology before returning to her first love: Fine Art.
In 2001 she and her family moved to North Essex where Kathy found a job in an excellent comprehensive school. In Essex she met one of the other founding partners of ‘sketchbookit’, Pandora Butterfield and together they have put together an amazing new art programme which is a distillation of all the art practice and experience acquired over the years.
Kathy is presently Head of Art in a department that gets some of the best A level results in the UK. For the past 6 years over 70% of all A level students taught by Kathy and her team have achieved A* grades at A level.
This art programme has been developed to enable a wider audience to gain a superb art education and share the ‘sketchbookit’ team’s passion for art and drawing.
