Jan Moran is a serial entrepreneur, author, and co-founder of Rich Ideas, an online community that features training for entrepreneurs and access to expansion capital. She is a graduate of the Harvard Business School and the University of Texas at Austin, where she majored in Finance.
As an entrepreneur and former CEO and board member, she speaks on a variety of topics, including topics in the retail and beauty industries, technology engagement at retail, entrepreneurship, the business of writing, women in business, and other topics. She is a Wyzant business coach, and is also a member of PEN and The Author’s Guild.
Jan is the co-founder and creator of Scentsa, a touch-screen software program for retailers and brands, including Sephora, Duty Free Shops, JCPenney, and Nordstrom. The fragrance and skincare programs are at Sephora stores around the world. Scentsa was recently sold to Sephora.
She has spoken before numerous groups, including University of San Diego Writers Program, Fashion Group International, The American Society of Perfumers, and library fundraisers. She has represented brands and retailers in media via Edelman and Devries public relations companies.
Jan writes fiction for St. Martin’s Press, a traditional publisher, as well as Sunny Palms Press, her own publishing company. Her fiction and nonfiction books include The Winemakers, Scent of Triumph, Flawless, Beauty Mark, Runway, Essence, Fabulous Fragrances, Vintage Perfumes, Life is a Cabernet, and others. She also writes for magazines, including The Costco Connection, Elle, and travel and cruise publications.
A few of her favorite things include a good cup of coffee, dark chocolate, traveling anywhere, and a warm sunny beach. Jan lives in Los Angeles, but she’s originally from Austin, Texas, and a trace of a drawl still survives to this day.
