Jana Williams is the author of two science fiction novels (Freefall and Shadowfall) as well as Unlock the Writer Within, an audio & eBook of writing advice for folks just starting the writer’s journey.
She has written feature-length scripts for broad-cast, as well as scripts for feature films. One of her scripts was a quarter finalist in the prestigious Nicholls Fellowship competition. Recently she optioned a script to an in-dependent film producer. She is currently at work on a novel-in-four-parts, The Truth about a Girl.
Jana’s earliest experience with film was as a high-speed motion picture photographer. This often meant standing on the open tailgate of a cargo plane and filming various objects as their parachutes failed to open and they crashed 20,000 feet below. The job was fun… but scary!
Later she worked in the film industry as a VFX and post coordinator for a number of years. This is where Jana learned the value of a good screenplay. She ultimately wrote and presented one-day seminars on how to write screenplays, which formed the basis of her online tutorial, Screenwriting Essentials.
Jana’s second book of writing advice, From Book to Screen: The Art of Adaptations is slated to publish in 2021.
