Guy Thomas is a songwriter, composer, and multi-instrumentalist musician who has recorded with and written songs for some of the biggest names in popular music. While still living in Ohio at the age of 17, Guy was signed by RCA as a solo artist in New York. He moved on from that learning experience to start his own band and then performed and toured with a wide array of famous recording artists co-writing, playing lead guitar, bass and keyboards.
In the eighties, Guy signed on as a full time staff songwriter and had his songs recorded by numerous artists including Carly Simon, Kenny Rogers, Smokey Robinson and Kenny Loggins.
Guy and Kenny Loggin’s co-wrote the Billboard’s top 10 hit song, “Conviction of the Heart” along with other songs like, “Leap of Faith” and “Now or Never” for Kenny’s critically acclaimed album “LEAP OF FAITH.”
When Guy wasn’t touring, he was working full time as a writer for national and regional commercials (i.e. Budweiser, Toyota, Mattel, Suzuki to name a few) as well as movie trailers and television theme songs.
Since having his first child in 1998, Guy quit touring and signed as a full time writer with Cherry Lane Music Publishing, now BMG Music Publishing, writing and placing hundreds of songs in various network and cable television shows as well as films. Guy also created a catalogue of over five thousand music cues for various international music libraries covering genre’s ranging from county, pop, classical, rock, grunge, alternative rock, jazz and R&B that continuously airs today on shows like: Dateline, Famous Homes & Hideaways, That’s So Raven, Parental Control, Oprah, Katie, Extra, Anderson Cooper 360, Hoarders, Ellen DeGeneres, Pawn Stars, On The Case with Paula Zahn, Duck Dynasty, Auction Hunters, TMZ as well as NBC Sports.
Guy’s expertise in current music trends has been well recognized in the academic community where he has been an adjunct professor of modern music songwriting at UCLA for the past decade.
