Dr. David J. Wallace is a conscious culture curator, and serial entrepreneur. His work primarily focuses on Wellness, Equity, and Inclusion assessments and strategic initiatives, all in pursuit of racial and social justice. Dr. Wallace is the Founder and Principal Consultant of Awakening Minds Consulting. He began his career as an elementary school teacher in Brooklyn, New York, then held the role of instructional leader at a K-6 school in Miami. Dr. Wallace then went on to become an Assistant Professor of Teacher Training, and eventually a Campus Dean at Relay Graduate School of Education.
After spending a decade in education and non-profit work, Dr. Wallace decided to explore a different business venture- Spiritual Wellbeing and Mental Health. He decided to create Dream House Lounge- a mental and spiritual wellness space located in New Orleans, LS. Dr. Wallace also co-founded Sprouted Education, an Employee Relationship Management platform that allows employers to keep a pulse on occupational wellbeing.
Dr. Wallace's research interests include teacher self-efficacy, the experiences of male educators of color, and mental health. His most recent research on the experiences of Male Teachers of Color was published in the Peabody Journal of Education. Dr. Wallace also authored a self-help guide, titled “Awakening Minds- 10 Life Lessons for a Conscious Culture.” He holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Morehouse College, a master’s degree from Relay Graduate School of Education, and an educational doctorate from St. Thomas University. Dr. Wallace cares deeply about amplifying culture and community, and continuously looks for ways to champion wellness.
