My name is David Studer and I graduated with an Accounting degree from the University of Arizona.
Shortly after graduation I found myself in public accounting with a good amount of accounting knowledge, but I had a big problem on my hands. Everything I knew was mostly compartmentalized, I had no idea how it all fit into the big picture. After a few months of 'on the job' training it all made sense.
A year went by and I noticed the problem that I had was not only isolated to myself but with other new hires as well. I worked for a national firm that recruited the best students. The problem we all had came from the fact that we are overloaded with information in school with a poor understanding of the accounting cycle. This problem stems from the fact that we are given no real world projects to see how the accounting cycle works from start to finish.
This would be similar to taking an automotive course and learning about engines, transmissions, radiators, etc... and not having any idea how all these components worked together in car. Imagine graduating and venturing out in the real-world with all this dispersed knowledge feeling overwhelmed and unprepared.
My objective with these online courses is to give you exactly what you need to know to excel in job force. You will gradually build up your skills through projects to the point where you can go out into the real-world and apply them.
