Dr. Catherine O’Brien created the concept of sustainable happiness more than ten years ago and developed the world’s first university course in sustainable happiness at Cape Breton University, Canada where she is an Associate professor in the education department. One of the aims of sustainable happiness is to foster well-being for all, sustainably. Catherine’s work combines research from positive psychology with sustainability. Essentially, she is exploring how we can have a high quality of life while safeguarding the planet. Through her courses, workshops, and writing she encourages individuals and organizations to identify how their happiness and well-being are interconnected with the well-being of other people and the natural environment.
Catherine is the author of: Education for Sustainable Happiness and Well-being, published by Routledge.
