Your instructor, Brett Shavers
Hi. My name is Brett Shavers. I am a former law enforcement investigator and computer forensics expert. I have authored three highly acclaimed digital forensics books, taught digital forensics at the University of Washington, presented at numerous cybercrime and security conferences, and currently continue to conduct research in the area of digital forensics and incident response. All of my books have been nominated as Best Digital Forensics Book of the Year by SANS with one winning the award. That book, the X-Ways Forensics Practitioner's Guide, is what this course is based upon.
I have been retained as an expert witness, special master, and digital forensics expert consultant in civil litigation matters. During the past decade, I have taught over 1,000 law enforcement officers, federal special agents, and attorneys in various aspects of cybercrime investigations as well as investigated crimes ranging from misdemeanors to federal crimes.
I enjoy being on the forefront of technology and sharing that which I learn and have a few certifications that I have collected along the way. My courses are developed from my personal and professional experiences combined with research and studies.
