Brad Acton is a musician, recording engineer, sound artist and technical educator from Leigh-on-Sea, Essex.
With a BA (Hons) in Music Production & Sound Engineering and years of practical experience across recording, music technology, live events, theatre and technical education, Brad has worked with musicians, producers, artists and students in a wide range of creative environments.
His recording experience includes studio work with professional analogue equipment, microphones and outboard, as well as location recording and music production using modern digital audio workstations.
Brad is also the creator of Sound On Sea, a project exploring the sounds of the Essex coastline through guided listening and field-recording walks. The project grew from a simple idea: that interesting music can be found almost anywhere if you stop and listen.
Through Sound On Sea, Brad combines his experience as a musician and recording engineer with a playful, accessible approach to sound. His aim is not to make people feel they need more equipment or technical knowledge, but to encourage them to become more curious about the sounds they already have around them.
This course brings that approach online, giving you the tools and ideas to listen, record and turn everyday sounds into something musical.
