About me
My passion for applied math, data science & machine learning stems from my study of computational chemistry. Although I don't believe you need a degree to learn any subject I did complete an MS in applied mathematics at the University of Washington (Seattle) and a PhD at the University of Texas at Austin. At UT Austin, we studied biochemistry with computer simulations of molecular dynamics. After my PhD I was awarded a postdoctoral fellowship in a robotics group in the computer science department at UNM. My education fully qualifies me to teach both math and chemistry at university level and I have 4 years of university teaching experience. But I decided to leave academia and go into industry where I am currently a lead statistical forecaster/senior data scientist at a Fortune 500 company.
