Long before mindfulness was fashionable, Dr. Arnie Kozak, was studying, practicing, and teaching mindfulness and Buddhist psychology. Beginning with a journey to India in the 80’s, Arnie began his lifelong practice in mindfulness meditation.
Arnie is a licensed psychologist doing private practice in Burlington, Vermont. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Vermont College of Medicine where he teaches mindfulness and on the faculty of the business school where he teaches mindfulness for the Sustainable Entrepreneurship MBA program.
He is the author of five books includingWild Chickens and Petty Tyrants: 108 Metaphors for Mindfulness(Wisdom Publications, 2009),The Everything Buddhism Book, 2ndEdition (Adams Media, 2010), The Everything Guide to the Introvert Edge (Adams Media, 2013), The Awakened Introvert: Practical Mindfulness Skills for Maximizing Your Strengths and Thriving in a Loud and Crazy World (New Harbinger, May 2015), Mindfulness A-Z: 108 Insights for Awakening Now (Wisdom Publications, summer 2015). He also writes the Mindfulness Matters blog on Beliefnet and The Awakened Introvert on Susan Cain’s Quiet Revolution website.
Arnie has taught mindfulness in a wide variety of settings including one-on-one in psychotherapy, university courses, workshops at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, The Barre Center for Buddhist Studies, and the Copper Beech Institute.
