Dr. Berning is the President of The Renaissance Institute dedicated to exploring the appropriate use of technology in teaching and learning. He recently retired as the Chief Information and Technology Officer for Carrollton Farmers Branch Independent School District in Carrollton, Texas. He holds a Ph.D. in Educational Technology from The University of Texas at Austin, a Master's Degree in Chemistry, and a Bachelor's Degree in Science Education. Dr. Berning also earned an Executive Certificate in Technology Management and Leadership from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has led K12 technology teams, integration efforts, and bond project oversight for over 25 years.
He is an Air Force veteran, a former chemistry teacher, and is currently a Lecturer and Digital Strategist for the Learning Innovation and Network Knowledge (LINK) Lab at the University of Texas in Arlington. He can be reached via his website.
