About me
Amanda Lawford MA, PG Cert, E-RYT 200.
My name is Amanda, I am a best selling course creator, yoga teacher, teacher trainer, and movement coach with over 20 years of teaching experience. Embraced by students in over 120 countries worldwide, my online courses have become a global channel for wellness and self-discovery. I have been blessed with a teacher’s heart and love working with people of all abilities and from all backgrounds.
I have completed over 1,700 hours of yoga teacher trainings, hold a Pilates mat work teaching certificate and a Master’s degree in Pedagogy. I am a member of Yoga Alliance E-RYT 200, and am a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP).
With a background in professional dance, I have always been passionate about movement and the body. But after being diagnosed with a rare type of blood cancer and suffering a back injury due to my scoliosis I found myself living with sickness, physical pain and increasing anxiety.
Through the practice of yoga, I found a renewed sense of strength in my mind and body. What began as a means to manage the side effects of my illness and alleviate mounting anxiety soon revealed its incredible ability to aid in the healing of my back injury.
Now, at the age of 51, I feel a remarkable sense of strength and flexibility. But beyond the physical changes, yoga has infused my life with happiness, optimism, and a newfound appreciation for the abundance that surrounds me.
As a yoga teacher, I humbly bring a perspective to my teaching practice that is grounded in empathy and shaped by my personal journey. Having faced my own battles with illness and injury, I've gained an understanding that helps me connect with my students on a deep level. This understanding allows me to foster a safe and nurturing environment, catering to practitioners of all levels with compassion and care.
With the emphasis on empathy and personal growth, I strive to create a space where everyone feels welcome, accepted, and supported. I believe that yoga is not just a physical practice but an opportunity for inner healing and transformation. I encourage my students to honour their bodies and listen to their inner voices, fostering a sense of self-awareness and self-compassion.
So, let’s embark on a journey of building strength, flexibility, and balance not only in our bodies but also in our minds. I hope to inspire and empower you to embrace your uniqueness and embark on your own transformative path of yoga and self-discovery.
