Dr. David (Dave) Engberg is passionate about the power of education to elevate and empower individuals and societies. A lover of travel and different cultures, he has visited all 50 U.S. states, traveled to more than 30 countries, and enjoys meeting and speaking with people from around the world.
Professionally, Dave worked in the international education field for over 20 years, where he directed international program offices at both public (University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Montana State University) and private (University of St. Thomas) universities, and held staff positions at the American Council on Education’s international education office, Boston College’s Center for International Higher Education, and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Before starting his university service, Dave lived and studied in Germany and lived in Japan, working as an English teacher.
In 2102, Dave left university service to found Global Opportunities Group (GoGroup), a global education services agency. GoGroup consists of two principal divisions: GoStudy provides courses, advising, and editing services for international students seeking admission to U.S. colleges and universities. GoSafe provides technology tools designed to minimize risk related to off-campus travel. In addition to these services, GoGroup, in partnership with a cadre of affiliated experts, assists individuals and organizations with other international education-related initiatives. Recent projects have included: application and admission advising; homestay placement; institutional matchmaking for scholars; risk audits; and bespoke research and reporting.
Dave holds Bachelors degrees in German and Geography, a Masters in Anthropology, and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration. In his free time, he serves as a volunteer English teacher and enjoys biking, gardening, and spending time with his family.
