  • Now you can look down the list and see all the amazing podcasts that are out there.

  • Now you can look down the list and see all the amazing podcasts that are out there.

Looking to make sure a podcast is still active!

  • The next thing we need to do is to look to make sure a podcast is still active.  Many podcasts fall by the way side and we don’t wan to be pitching a podcast that we have no chance of getting on because they are not even doing the podcast anymore.
  • So we need to pick a podcast we are interested in
  • This will bring up a listing for the podcast and the most recent episodes.
  • Now look at the most recent podcast and look at the release date.
  • Most podcasts record once a week or at least once a month if the podcast hasn’t had an episode in the past two month it is time to move on.
  • Many podcasts will remain high on the Top Podcast list long after they have stopped recording.  This is because of the listens they have had in the past.  Sometimes some of the first podcasts can stick around for a long time based on past performance and because they are occupying those tops spots.
  • Make a special note here that some podcasts will take a break form time to time like television shows.  They might take the summers off so be aware that this some times is the case.  We actually took two months off one of our podcast because we were moving.
Finding Active Podcasts

Does this podcast do interviews

  • Our next step is to see if the podcast takes interviews.
  • Usually if a podcast does interviews on the show it will be mentioned in the description of the podcast.
  • IF you don’t get a clear cut answer from the show description you can move to the information form the episode.
  • For each episode of the podcast there is an information section you can find it by looking for the lower case i in italics.  Once you locate it then click on it and a descriptions of the show will pop up.  It will say something to the affect of, on today’s show we interviewed…
  • Another quick way to see if the show does interviews is to look at how long the episodes are.  Usually if the show isn’t around 20 minutes then there is little chance of there being an interview.  Especially if the show is under ten minutes don’t even bother that wouldn’t give you enough time to discuss anything.

Listen to the Podcast

  • Now that you know the podcast is still active and that they accept interviews, you might want to listen to the podcast to make sure it is a good fit.
  • I have to be honest with you here I don’t do this every time, and I have bene burnt a few times being stuck with a host or show formate that wasn’t suited to my liking.
  • You can avoid this by listening to a show or two and getting a feel for the host and show.
  • Sometimes the host will not fit your personality and that doesn’t mean their show is bad it just doesn’t fit your energy.
  • Some hosts might not let the guest talk much or the show could be jammed with so many commercials or breaks you wouldn’t get much time to talk.
  • Getting a feel for the show also helps if you do decide to move forward.  Hosts love it when you tell them about a part of their show you like, and they will be impressed that you listened.  All of which might help you get on the show.

Finding the Podcast website

  • Okay you are happy with all the aspects of the show and you are ready to proceed.
  • You will find under the Links on the podcast page a listing for Website!
  • Click on Website and you will whisked away to the podcasts website…in most cases
  • Sometimes this will take you to their podcast hosting website page.  Services such as podbean or yibsyn are two popular ones.
  • Many times this hosting pages will not have an email or contact form link.
  • If this is the case you are not dead in the water yet
  • You can still search the podcast name in google.
  • Most of the time you will be able to find a podcast’s website in this manner
Locating The Podcasts Website
06:05

Contacting the Podcast

  • Your next step if to contact the podcast
  • Many will have a contact form and you can fill out that form to express your desires to be a guest on their show
  • Other times you will be able to get their email address and personal email them.
  • Please keep this email or contact for message short and sweet.  No more than a paragraph is what I suggest.  Include who you are, why your feel you would be a good guest on their show, the title of your book and or product, your website and how they can get in contact with you.
  • Then thank them for taking the time to consider you.
  • You can attach your one sheet (if you need more help on that watch Janelles’ Udemy class on How to Create A One Sheet)
  • Now before you send your request I always close my eyes and send some positive energy into the message or a prayer never hurts either.  After that I hit sent and let the universe and the forces that be take care of the rest.
  • One thing you have to now is have a little patience the bigger the show the more time they might take to respond so don’t get hung up on checking your email 20 times a day waiting for an answer.
How To Contact The Podcast
04:47

Don’t be afraid to contact Big Podcasts

  • Many people out there shy away from the larger podcasts because they think they are too big to ever select them for an interview.
  • Here is my take if you don’t ask the answer is always no!
  • Remember that even bigger podcasters or celebrities were once a nobody and had to begin somewhere.
  • You might have just the right thing the podcast is looking for!
Don't Be Afraid To Contact The Big Podcasts

What Happens Next Acceptance or Practice

  • Most people will feel at this point they are either accepted or rejected
  • This is not the case I say you are either accepted or have gained experience
  • There is no rejection!  I always look a someone passing on an interview as the podcasts loss.  I even go so far as when they pass to say the following “I feel sorry for them they passed on the best interview they ever had”  Instead of feeling sorry for myself I feel sorry for them because they are the ones that lost out.
  • I also subscribe to the fact that everything is a numbers game and every time someone passes on your interview you are one step closer to landing that big interview.
  • Mindset is an important part of this process and you have to find your way to keep your mindset positive.  If we feel bad after each interview pass we will never get anywhere!

Social Media Genius / Relationship Guru / Author

Traveling entrepreneurs, Drs. Rob + Janelle Alex, Ph.D. are mentoring entrepreneurs and authors around the world. As best selling authors, speakers, marketing and branding experts their podcast Authors Talk About It (soon to be rebranded as Creative Author Marketing) has become quite popular. They’re new adventures have led them to rebrand overall and set Mission Date Night on the back burner – though the MDN podcast was  very popular, too!  Together, Rob and Janelle, have authored over 125 books including the Mission Date Night Adventures, the Sexy Challenges series (and newly released, Sexy Challenges 33 Adventures: Create Powerful Energy with Passion, Purpose and Love), the Intimate Adventures series, Collaborate with Your Soul, Richer Together: Secrets to Working, Living and Loving Side-by-Side, the Full Moon Approaches, Speaking Kind Words and more.  They are currently working on a new fiction – it’ll be their first non-fiction book.

They offer programs, workshops and private mentoring focused on creative marketing and powerful branding, so that entrepreneurs and authors can get their message out into the world in a bigger way while having a ton of fun doing it.

Their youngest son, Boegley is traveling along with them and studying as a worldschooler.  Their two older sons, Reggie and Anthony, are grown and have spread their wings on their own journeys.

Dr. Rob Alex, Ph.D. is brilliant at coming up with outside-the-box ideas.  He is currently creating fantastic courses available on Udemy around creative marketing and  relationships.  It’s fascinating how the relationship skills he teaches to couples crosses over to authors and entrepreneurs with their relationships to clients and fans/readers.  He had a spiritual awakening in 2010, which happened due to transcendent lovemaking experiences.  This encouraged him to bring more spiritual perspectives into his work – metaphysical concepts alongside practical ideas. He teaches how to use ancient wisdom to expand your thinking while creating more personal life energy and how to direct that energy to develop amazing relationships (personally and professionally) and live the life of your dreams.

He studied business and human sexuality at Penn State University. His Bachelor of Metaphysics, Master of Metaphysical Sciences, and Ph.D. in Transpersonal Counseling were earned from the University of Metaphysical Sciences. His dissertation was Orgasmic Laughter: Sex and Humor are Unexpected Portals to the Universe.

While Dr. Janelle Alex, Ph.D. uses a blend of body consciousness, spiritual psychology, transpersonal counseling, animal energy and spiritual connection, she also uses very practical and down-to-earth approaches to help women entrepreneurs create leverage with their books (and in their businesses) so they can streamline their time and have thriving relationships, be fantastic moms and have fabulous success in their careers.  She has spent the past 26 years helping others connect to their creative energy – their life force energy. She teaches how to integrate unique and practical tools to traverse the journey of relationship with yourself, your brand and your book.  She’s a master at helping you create a book marketing plan that fits your brand and fits YOU.

She graduated summa cum laude from St. Mary-of-the-Woods College with a B.S. in Psychology and a minor in Criminology. Her graduate degrees include a Master of Arts in Transpersonal Psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology (now Sofia University), Masters in Metaphysical Sciences from the University of Metaphysics and her Ph.D. in Transpersonal Counseling from the University of Sedona. Her dissertation was Sacred Intimacy: Transforming Your Life Through Sacred Relationship.
