Many of us, when we hear the word meditation, think of a few iconic images. The great Indian sage sitting on a hot, rocky Indian mountain, legs folded in a full lotus, stripped down of all material possessions, obtaining some great mental state -- at the cost of everything else. Or one may think of some yoga master doing insanely difficult poses.
Others think of meditation as something that they tried and couldn't get to work for them. It was more stressful than rewarding. They sat and looked inward and the voices that answered would have none of it. They had things to do and this strange practice was not for them.
What I tell people is that meditation need not be any of these things. If you are unhappy or just a bit too stressed, you can utilize practical meditation techniques to transform your life. The extent of which you want to utilize these techniques is up to you. Most people are fairly happy with what is going on with their life. They don't want to change anything. But there are a few things that bother them. It is these things we start with. It is utilizing certain tools and techniques to cut out the less pleasant aspects of our existence, creating a better life for ourselves. Surrendering only what we don't enjoy, what are we left with?
And with these tools in hand, we will be happier and more confident -- fearless! -- knowing that any trouble that comes our way can be dealt with using these tools. There will never be a situation in life that you get stuck on, and there never has been. Knowing that you will always be able to deal with things will absolutely help destroy stress.
We are given the ability to shape the way we experience the universe. By shutting down frustrations, permitting creativity to flow in, we are both happier and self-actualized. We tap into our greatest potential. We can feel peace and joy every day.
The aim of this course is to get you to realize that you are not your thoughts. You are something beyond that. By awareness, motivation, and knowledge, you will be able to gain insight into this and have the ability to surrender it, transforming yourself. With this greater knowledge of who you are, you can begin to reshape how you experience the world. Say goodbye to fears, anxiety, stress, and worries. You are entering into a new stage of existence where peace and joy are an everyday reality.
In this course we introduce three techniques and two meditations that will give you the ability to explore and discover this reality within yourself.
Who are we? Why are we here?
For each of us,
We believe we have made choices.
That we’ve led ourself through this life.
Choosing this and that.
That we have been searching for … something.
That these choices have led us here today
to decide something, to search for something.
And yet here, in this course,
We’re here to say
that what you’re here for
What you’re here to learn
Is not to find out something that you believe.
Nor to obtain anything you, the seeker, could ever find.
But to see that this "I" that has arisen,
that has arisen within you,
is that which hinders you.
For you are that which you long for.
You are that which you search for.
And that is what we’re here to see:
To see that this sense of self,
this sense of agency that is within you,
can be dropped; Can be let go; Can be Transformed.
And we are here to do just that.
We are here to see and to juxtapose when this sense of agency is dropped.
And so we’ll go forth, seeing and believing.
Becoming aware and comparing.
Seeing that we are not these beliefs.
And once we see that, once we realize that we are not this "I" that we have long believed we were,
And so we go from (being) this seeker,
from this identity that we are this person going forth throughout the day.
searching and seeking wanting and not wanting,
To the Creator.
The creator which transforms and manifests these beings within us.
This being of I.
This being of joy.
A presence of stillness and joy that no external object could ever disturb.
And that is what we are here to do.
We are here to find out the path to letting go; to surrender; to transformation.
To see that we are that stillness beyond this "I" that we have long believed to be us.
And yet, even in surrender,
even in letting go of this inner “I”,
we have the power to create that path.
To create that joy and go through life in a way we have never done so before.
Without fears or worries, without stress or frustrations.
Bathed in a never-ending ocean of bliss.
What is great about this course? We will learn how to create joy and eliminate stress any time we want.
There are three techniques that we will focus on.
By becoming aware of our thoughts, we gain the insight and ability needed to transform them.
We have the power to manifest and surrender our thoughts. We have all used this amazing ability already, so let us take a closer look at it.
When thoughts don't go away, yet we want them to, who is bringing them into being? It can't be us. So, let us ask the question to stop the process in it's tracks.
By focusing on the breath, the mind cools down. When we start to do appreciation exercises, we notice much lighter being emerges from us. We are able to modify our reality in this way and bring about our own peace and happiness.
An intro to our next meditation, which many will find very difficult to enjoy. It is meant to be so. I have added in different news clips which tug at our pain bodies. They are meant to agitate us. Notice this agitation. Notice the I that arises and how it makes us feel.
There is an attachment available regarding some of my own experiences with the news. It is how I chose to relay a real life scenario of using self-inquiry and surrender. Enjoy!
One should aim to center the attention on the awareness of the breath or being. While doing this, different distractions will come up from the video. Notice the inner "I" that gets created. See how it feels, and then let it go and return to simple awareness. By doing doing this, we gain knowledge of the workings of how we experience the world and we gain experience in transforming that experience to be more enjoyable.

Author David Ring III was born in MA, in 1983. After an atypical upbringing that left him with a negative mindset, he began to seek freedom from his pessimistic thoughts.
With very little interest in the corporate world, he left university in 2006, and began traveling the world. There was no reason to travel; it was just what people aspired to do. For David, he was living life and searching for
From 2007-2010, he settled in central New Hampshire.

David still bases himself in Thailand. He avoids the heat by escaping into air conditioned coffee shops and plunging himself into writing. In this way he gently and articulately shares his philosophical beliefs.
