What Will I Learn?
  • Technology and office jobs have us spending most of our days indoors using computers and interacting with the real world less and less. We modern men use technology do EVERYTHING short of wiping our own asses. We have grown damn lazy, insecure and emasculated as a result. But over the next 30 days, that is ALL going to change.
  • The Uber challenges are strategically segmented into 4 categories proven to make you a more well-rounded and capable man:
  • The 1st category will help you develop Kingly Characteristics like virtue and gratitude to ensure that the people in your kingdom follow, love and want to be around you, instead of fear, despise and want nothing to do with you.
  • The 2nd will give you Warrior characteristics like confidence, decisiveness, toughness and the ability to go after what you want in life.
  • The 3rd will give you Magician skills that will increase your social intelligence, make you more interesting, charismatic and desired by others.
  • The 4th category is dedicated to Health and Heroism. You will learn skills that will make you more physically fit, capable of saving lives and simply an all around more competent, powerful, well rounded man.

INTRODUCTION AND FRAMEWORK

Welcome Challenger!

Make sure to read this post ALL THE WAY through or you will be lost, won't get the maximum benefits on of the 30 Day UberMan Challenge AND... you won't know how to win your 2 tickets to Man Camp Molokai.

The UberMan Challenges, are broken up into 4 different man-skill categories that will make you a much more well-rounded and competent man. The categories are based on the King, Warrior, Magician, Lover: Rediscovering the Archetypes of the Mature Masculine by PHD, Robert L. Moore.

I have swapped out the Lover category because I want this course to focus on what I have identified as common pain points and areas that my fellow Man Skills Academy members feel they need to strengthen; confidence, health, fulfillment, courage and masculine identity. For this reason, the Lover challenges have been replaced by "Hero and Health" challenges.

Uber Challenge Durations:

1. Single Challenges

2. Repeat Challenges

3. Week Challenges

4. Weekday Challenges

Uber Challenges have 4 primary colors and one wild card:

1. Purple

2. Red

3. Green

4. Orange

WildCard: Black (identifies the extreme challenges).

Uber Challenge Archetypes:

1. King Challenges- The first category of challenges will help you develop Kingly Characteristics like virtue and gratitude. King Challenges are purple and look like this.

2. Warrior- The second will give you Warrior characteristics like confidence, decisiveness, toughness and the ability to go after what you want in life.

3. Magician- The third will give you Magician skills that will increase your social intelligence, make you more interesting, charismatic and desired by others.

4. The 4th category is dedicated to Heroism and Health. You will learn skills that will make you more physically fit, capable of saving lives and simply an all around more competent, powerful, well rounded man.

Black challenges denote the extreme UberMan challenges. These challenges fit into one of the four archetype color categories but are denoted by black because they are bad ass.

At the end of each week, on Sunday you will have your Man Camp Molokai challenge, which will require you to answer 3-6 question that I have assigned to you. The questions are designed to make these lessons stick and maximize your growth during the next 30 days. They are also intended to make the 30th Challenge much easier because you will combine your answers from the Molokai Man Challenges to create the framework for your the document you need to win the 2 ticks to man camp molokai. This document is called Quest to Manhood, 1 page success story, that you will have to submit in order to enter win your two tickets to Man Camp Molokai which is the ultimate adventure destination vacation. 1 of every 250 students will win!

7 Lectures 47:36

Challenge Archetype: King

Challenge Color: Purple

Challenge Duration: Repeat

This first challenge has gotten me through my very worst, down in dumps, dog shit kinda days and helps me start out the right way, everyday. Sometimes I read my "My Life Is Great List" 10 times aloud before leaving the house. I read this list before interviews, big presentations and anything that requires a lot of mental strength and confidence. Think of this list as your best friend, it will always be by your side ready to lift you up when you are feeling down.

Life is too short to walk around feeling sorry for ourselves. This exercise will help you realize and appreciate what you have, while you still have it. There is nothing worse, than living a life of regret.

Here is my list:

1. I Still have a full head of hair at age 33.

2. I am doing what I love, working in paradise and helping people.

3. My Mom and Dad are still alive and well.

4. I am creative, motivated and driven.

5. I have sold two companies.

6. I have raised $500k dollars with a basic business plan.

7. I have an awesome guitar and love playing music.

8. I have a great apartment and food in my stomach.

9. I have my health back right now, have gained back the 23lbs that I lost and I am not in pain.

10. I have many more years of life to live.

Do you speak quietly because you don’t want to offend people, disturb the setting or fear that you’ll sound stupid?

With the exception of few men, this habit conveys insecurity and timidity. It tells the world that you are a beta fish trying not to make ripples because you are afraid of getting eaten by alpha fish.

But the good news is, there is a quick and easy way to project yourself so that people can hear you and place more value on what you are saying.

Day 4 | Uber Breathes Deeper and Speaks Louder - No More Soft Talking!

When I was a fire fighter, after each and every call, Battalion Chief Smith would hold a debriefing or an introspection session. He we would hop off of the engine, hang up our helmets and jackets than head over to our debriefing circle where we would reflect on the medical call or fire we had just fought. Each of us would answer two questions:

What did I do right?

What can I do better?

You will learn from The 30 Day UberMan Challenge 100% faster and retain 100% of what you learned by completing this challenge.

When you make the decision to travel or go on a trip, you typically start with the end in mind...meaning... you decide on where you are going to go first, then you figure out which roads will get you there fastest, where you are going to stay and the other relevant details.

Today technology like Waze and Google Maps don't require us to sit down and study a map before jumping in our cars, but you still need to enter a destination city into your smart phone in order to chart your course and have an idea of whether or not you are on course. That is what we are going to do right now.

Day 8 | Uber Is Virtuous - Your Road Map To Manhood
05:13

Challenge Archetype: Warrior

Challenge Color: Black

Challenge Duration: Single

In this challenge, you are going to develop the masculine virtue of boldness.

Boldness: When you see something that you want and you go after it despite the possibility of failure. This will boost your confidence and increase the likelihood of success the next time around.

Not Being Bold: Letting an opportunity pass and choosing the stomach wrenching regret that will gnaw at me for the next few hours instead of being bold and acting in alignment with my virtues.

Day 9 | Uber Is Bold - Feel The Fear & Do It Anyways
06:11

Challenge Archetype: Warrior

Challenge Color: Black

Challenge Duration: Week

Being able to fight through discomfort and increasingly spend more time out of your comfort zone is the only way that we grow as humans. It is the only way that we grow as men. Men who are always comfortable in their cozy little desk jobs, drinking their froathy little lattes and collecting a cushy paycheck to push buttons on their keyboards get soft and effiminate.

This breeds insecurity and a lack of confidence that leads to shame, frustration and depression. We do not build character by staying in our warm little comfort zones. Comfort zones will cut the tusk of the most feral of boars...

It's time to get your tusks back my man!

Day 10: Uber Bad Ass - Navy Seal Showers - Grow Your Tusks
03:59

Challenge Archetype: Warrior

Challenge Color: Red

Challenge Duration: Repeat

In this challenge, you will learn why you must and how to start making better eye contact. EYE CONTACT is hugely important for in dating, business and just about every human interaction that you have.

Time to learn some martial arts! Whether you need to know how to defend yourself isn't up to you, it can be decided by any stranger walking down the street at any time. A man can defend himself and his loved ones.

Knowing how to apply the rear-naked choke can and will end a fight quickly. Hopefully, you won't ever have to choke someone out, BUT if you do, know this.

1. It does not take long to choke someone out.

2. As soon as they go limp, let them go.

3. Holding a choke after someone has gone limp (is choked-out) can cause permanent damage.

4. LET GO AFTER SOMEONE either taps out or chokes-out and NEVER use this on someone in any other situation aside from self-defense.

Day 12: Uber Fight Club - Arm Drag To Rear Naked Choke
03:14

Challenge Archetype: Warrior

Challenge Color: Black

Challenge Duration: Single

Having played rugby, football and contact sports growing up, I was pretty comfortable with getting physical and knocking heads. As soon as graduated from college, I went from working out, surfing, playing rugby and spending most of my time outdoors, to a desk job which as you know, is the opposite of physical and indoors AND guess what? I got soft. My tusks fell off.

Then I started doing martial arts, worked my way up to sparing and got past the initial shock and awe that's caused by someone throwing punches at your face. When I stopped for a couple of months because of work travel my tusks fell off again.

I went back to the boxing gym to find myself, once again, uncomfortable and scared of stepping in the ring.

The same thing would happen with rugby, once I stopped playing for 2 years when I was working as a Firefighter/EMT. When I started up again, I was very super nervous before my first game back, I literally had to run to a porto-potty minutes before kick-off and blow it out. But after 20minutes, I was lighting guys up and scoring tries. I was awarded man of the match that day, but almost didn't show because of how nervous I was.

After 3 games, I was hard as nails, had grown my tusk back and absolutely loved the contact.

As men, we must make an effort to do things that will result in us keeping a cool head and not panicking when we are attacked. This discipline carries over to the workplace and the homestead as well, when your boss or your wife are screaming at you, which is a form of attack your martial arts training will help you keep a cool head.

My buddies who fight for a living are some of the coolest, nicest, and most mellow guys in the world. They are 100% deadly and will destroy you in the ring, but once the fight is over, the aggression has no place in their lives. Their aggression gets utilized and channeled appropriately which is why fighters are generally really mellow dudes.

Enough talk, it's time to get physical.

Go online and look up Brazilian Jujitsu Gyms, If you cannot find one look up boxing gyms, if you can't find one, look up karate gyms.

Safety is #1 when it comes to handguns and guns in general. Make sure to read the Handgun Safety manual attached to this lecture before you go to the range in the next Uber challenge. Shooting is fun, it will give you a rush and make you feel more manly, BUT SAFTEY is #1!

I am a certified NRA handgun instructor and have taught multiple Man Skills Academy members how to shoot safely. Before they touch a loaded gun, they must take my handgun safety lecture and demonstrate they can safely handle a gun before we hit the range.

Part of the challenge was that I still had to go to social events, here is what I found:

1. I wasn’t very comfortable at first and quickly realized how heavily I had been relying on alcohol to be in social settings.

2. Just as many people buy flashy cars, expensive watches, and other ostentatious gear to hide who they really are try to impress others. Many of us use alcohol so we can feel cool, accepted by others, and disguise our true personalities.

3. Not drinking makes you practice saying NO to people and you will get way better at it. You will get much better at listening to people and will have interesting things to say.

4. People do not care that you're not drinking, even after they have had a few drinks. They don’t care about anything but their own buzz and talking about themselves. Your fear of judgement is totally and completely unwarranted. Drinking is a very ego-centric endeavor, it is all about you, how you feel, and getting higher and higher.

By this point in the 30 day UberMan challenge, you have worked really hard to increase your confidence, self-esteem, and masculinity.

So I want you to go out, some night this week, 100% stark sober to observe the way that you feel.

Do you feel comfortable talking to people in a social environment without the numbing yourself with booze?

Day 22: Uber Social When Sober - Social Anxiety Challenge

Here is the deal. In this challenge you are going to commit to one of 2 options:

A. Do half of the workout with the 20 lb. weight vest to simulate the body amor that the seals wear and do it in under 20 minutes.

B. You do the full workout with the vest and you have unlimited time to complete it, but shoot to get it done in under one hour.

The Murph:

It's a 1 mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 air-squats, and another 1 mile run which is brutal.

Again, if you want to cut this in half no problem. But you will have to finish the 1/2 mile run, 50 pull-ups, 100 push-ups, 150 air-squats and a second 1/2 mile run in less then 20 mins.

Obviously you aren't going to be able to do 50 pull-ups in a row. So break the exercises up into sets. This is what I do..

10 pull-ups x 5 sets, 20 push-ups x 5 sets, 30 air-squats x 5 sets

When you are doing this workout, you are going to be panting, grunting, hurting, and wanting to quit; before you even attempt it, I want you to watch or re-watch lone survivor and think about the man you are honoring with this workout, everything that he went through and sacrificed for you. Use this as your motivation to get through the Murph to honor Michael Murphy and the many soldiers that are and have put their lives on the line protect us.

Seal training my Uber, it does not get more manly that that.

Get out there and do your country proud!

Rest in peace Michael Murphy.

Important life lessons are best passed down from one generation to the next, through power of anecdotes or stories.

Why?

Story telling radically alters the way that our minds process information. It entertains and educates simultaneously, while producing maximal data absorption and retention.

Storytelling is powerful because it is persuasive. It is also beautiful because a story will never be told exactly the same way twice. If you want to be a more persuasive man and a father who can impart wisdom into his children, becoming good at story telling is a great way to do that.

So in this challenge, I want you to learn the following story. Go out and practice telling it until you are really good at it, then go learn a new story to tell.

Founder of Man Skills Academy and Man Camp Molokai

Bryce Anderson is a life-long student of philosophy, self‐improvement, the outdoors and the art of being a man. As former Firefighter/EMT, Personal Trainer and community volunteer, Bryce has always been actively involved in and passionate about helping people.

In 2013, Bryce’s life rapidly took a turn for the worse. Back in 2011, he had be Crohn’s disease. It had never bothered him too much, but one day that all changed. In less than 2 months, he lost his job and his social life because he was in constant pain, his girlfriend, 23 pounds of mass, $10,000’s due to medical bills and the doctor’s did not know what to do. Just about every piece of his identity, especially the characteristics that he considered to be most masculine, were stripped from him.

During those dark days, Bryce deeply considered what it means to truly live, having been confronted by death. He contemplated what it really means to be a man, having been separated from his ego, sense of “self” and his pride.

Bryce vowed that when he got better, he wouldn’t go back to his former life. He had been shown with no uncertainty that his health and life could disappear tomorrow, so he would longer lead an unhealthy, consumeristic, superficial existence today. Instead, he would find a way to make a living pursuing his passion, spending more time outdoors, get back to working with his hands, and helping others. Bryce’s battle with Crohn’s, was the genesis of MANSA and the 30 Day UberMan Challenge.

Man Skills Academy or “MANSA”, is group of men dedicated to becoming better men by reconnecting with nature and getting back to the basics; shooting, hiking, camping, boating, fishing, throwing tomahawks, building, self-defense, being better fathers, sons, brothers and actively striving to become better men.

MANSA, helps men reconnect with nature and rediscover their masculinity while building new friendships, learning new skills and become leaders of men. Bryce believes that gender-role ambiguity in society, technology dependence and men spending 90% of their lives indoors, is causing 21st century men to become self-insufficient, depressed, bored, soft, effeminate and unhealthy.

Through an endless quest for knowledge, working with hundreds of men, ebooks, live events, online courses and Man Camp Molokai, Bryce hopes to build a tribe committed to reversing this growing trend of dissatisfaction, depression, violence, poor health and demasculinization in and of modern men.

Bryce welcomes all men into the MANSA family and looks forward to hiking, hunting, fishing, surfing, pushing the limits, philosophizing and becoming better men, together.
