Setting up your home page so people know what your about and the brand is super important because you only get one chance at a first impression.
Adding a call to action in your bio to promote your website is super important.
What I love about twitter is how easy they allow you to get off the platform to watch videos and consume content. So when you post a YouTube link and some clicks on it in their feed they are immediately taken to that video. Once I'm done watching I click the X and I'm immediately taken back to my Twitter feed. Very light interruption. Doesn't actually switch me to a different app.
I did this years ago which has benefits but also has cons
Favoriting tweets of customers or fans that are similar to your brand are a great way to introduce yourself without being obnoxious. It's actually giving and agreeing with by saying "Hey, I like that too".
Telling your story and building a relationship with potential customers should be an ongoing process and not just when your about to launch a new product
When I scroll through the feed of search terms I've looked up I notice how many other languages other then english are in the feed. Twitter truly is a global opportunity to grow your brand.
I challenge you to spend 15 minutes a day using the above strategies I've suggested to start organically building your following.
You can only direct message people that are following you.
On the home page of Twitter.com you can see a list of trending topics. This is a great way to tell your story around this trending topic to spin your content in a different way.
They 5 hashtags per post is the standard.. Don't get too caught up in this though.. Just focus on delivering value and add hashtags because it makes sense or trending topic.
When posting long web links to your store or, website or YouTube Video I suggest creating an account with http://www.bitly.com
When you are talking about someone using the @ symbol that you want the whole world to see make sure you include a . period first or else whomever you are tagging will only see the post plus whoever is following them and you.
That's great to re-tweet someone saying nice things about your band or company but don't do it too much. It's annoying and we call it birdie bragging.
The formula for success on any social media platform including Twitter is: Give, give give, ask. Most people are doing the opposite. Ask, ask, ask, ask, give, ask, ask, ask, ask give... Give more it will pay off in the long run.
Don't try to game the system. Play by the rules.
Make sure your Twitter handle is everywhere for me that's @Manafest is included on other social media sites, your business cards and in the signature of your emails. Every follower counts if they don't know your on Twitter they might not find you unless you tell them.
