English [Auto] A class and welcome to the next lecture here. And my name is Dr. Daniel Zimmerman and I'm very excited that you're with me here in the strategy of call e-mail for online and campus teaching opportunities. So we've gone through our welcome and we've also talked a little bit about why teaching online is extremely important and extremely profitable for those who do it right and those who want to really make a career out of it. But why. Why utilize the system and that's and that's a great question and that's what we should be asking. You spent some pretty good money on this system so Hackett better work right. So let's talk a little bit about the system. And so first things first. You wanted. So you do want to teach online. We've come to that conclusion so or maybe you want to teach face to face and you know and this system doesn't necessarily work just for online teaching if you want to utilize it for face to face teaching. You do have that option or if you're looking for a job appointments or if you're looking for leads or job or appointments you know that's definitely a great way of looking at utilizing this system. I mean it's an on compassing system. But for this particular course we're going to be focusing in and on utilizing it for online education. So again this guy is going to help you with all of these modalities that we just discussed called emailing is a new type of communication medium that has taken the career development by storm though it is not a new concept. The act is relatively new. So what is called emailing and I do have a little definition here for you that I that I created. It's sending an unsolicited email in an attempt to make a connection with a decision maker about your credentials makes sense. But then some people might be going well isn't that spam. It's not spam because we are not asking for them to purchase anything or opt in for anything. We're asking for a fair assessment of our credentials and just basically introducing ourselves as potential partners within their business so called emailing system here. Think about this the odds are not in your favor if you utilize us now. How many people have views because you know you might have had your first job at a college where you were sat down and you had to sit there and just caught up a phone book you know find your own book of business that could be really tedious you know and what are some of the things that you encountered when you were doing cold calling. You had to deal with gatekeepers now who are gatekeepers gatekeepers or those who keep these executives and decision makers save from calls that they don't need to take. You know I IEEE you know get you know these these executives are so busy these days with with you know developing their courses with working internally you know and then just doing their job that they don't have time to be talking to every Tom Dick and Harry calls in. So they do have gatekeepers that monitor and monitor their calls. Now if you are lucky enough to get through a gatekeeper and you know you might be able to call into a frontline customer service and name drop somebody and they might get you to an e-mail get you to a voicemail. Now you have to deal with their voicemail the dreaded voicemail and you could practice all day long. Come up with a great voicemail and there's so many so many ways that you can provide voicemails these days from you know persuasion to the cut off to all these different types of methods of leaving a voicemail. But it's still with the person you're trying to get to has to listen to that voicemail. Right. And they again they don't have time to do this. So you know with me I have done this. I have called over 1000 people in looking for online teaching positions this is how I first started. And I literally got maybe two calls back out of a out of a thousand. What is that. What does that come out to be. Point 0 2 percent. The odds are not very good in your favor if you are using cold calls will work for some. Yes it will work. If you're happy with point 0 2 percent I'm not saying that it is not it doesn't work. It's just. Is that the best use of your time. That's my question. So let's go and look at call me e-mails here and call them e-mails. The odds are ever in your favor and with your emails you do have the control of what you're going to put what they're going to read what their what how you're going to address it. It's not invasive for the professional as well. You know you might have a snappy title you might have a snappy headline and they look at it and they might be excited but they're going to come back to it because they might look at it and say you know I'll look at it later. You don't come back. Or they might read it or peruse through it or skim it real quick and you caught their eye and next thing you know you're like wow I might not necessarily work in this particular area so I'm going to forward this e-mail on to the next decision maker. You know it's just a noninvasive way to to reach out to decision makers out of the 1000 e-mails that I have sent I received over 400 replies. Now not all those replies were good. I didn't say that they were going to be positive. They were either. We don't have any openings at this time. Go online and check out. You know check out the application process. I'm retired. I no longer work at that institution or they weren't delivered correctly. So I mean I did get some replies. But with two of them 200 of them they had me referring me had referring me to someone else someone else in that particular in that particular part department that I was looking for my instance I was looking at management and business at the graduate level MBA. So now how cool is that. I get it on an e-mail now I have personnel that I reached out to forward be the person B. Now I have two contacts at the university and guess what I'm going to write both of their both their names down and I'm going to be able to utilize their names later on down the line. I'm going to show you how to keep track of that in our spreadsheet tracker. Now 400 out of 1000 you know let's even say that's a 40 percent success rate. Again not all of those were good replies but what say 200 of them. That's 20 percent success rate. You know versus point 2 percent success rate. So so far which one do you think would be the better better way of trying to grab the attention get the grab the attention of the decision maker. Now which one would you choose again let's do the math. Point two percent or 40 percent. Which one would you choose. Now I bet you would choose a cold emailing right. And that is a very very good e-mail. You know and it is just it's an exciting it's an exciting thing to get an email back from decision makers saying hey you know what I read of your e-mail I read over your transcripts and I looked at your I looked at your CV and you have all the qualifications that we're looking for. Let's get you in touch with the next the next line of opportunity. So you know you never know unless you get out there and do it. And that's what this system is all about is getting you out there and doing it in a non invasive way. You're not going to get yelled at. You're not going to get screamed at. You're not going to be hung up on over the phone and it's just that simple. You know they're they're professionals. They'll you know if they don't want to talk with you either they won't reply which is fine or they'll just send you a nice e-mail and say you know what we're not interested. That's OK. So you can see how it works how it's just easier to utilize the system with e-mails. And I'm very excited to get moving forward in the next aspect of the system here and we're going to talk about call e-mailing. So I'm looking forward to getting started with you on the next lecture.
