More about Investing
There are many different types of investments. Some of the most common are bonds, stocks, and mutual funds. Bonds are a type of investment found built on debt - meaning, when you buy a bond, someone needs to pay you a set amount at the bond's "maturity date." For this reason, bonds are considered "fixed income securities" - meaning, you know the nominal amount you will get at the end of an investment. Stocks, also known as equities, are a type of investment that gives you part ownership in the company. Finally, mutual funds are a mix of stocks and bonds that investors pool their money. The returns on the "portfolio" - or the mix of bonds and stocks that the mutual fund owns - are shared by the pool of investors.
