Why Take This Course?
Because... TOGAF 9.1 is the leading industry enterprise architecture framework.
A TOGAF 9.1 Certified Background means your skills are being searched for right now at a premium. According to the 2015 IT Skills and Certifications Pay IndexTM ,TOGAF Certification is a qualification which commands premium pay.
Given Enterprise Architecture is growing in importance (and here to stay), this is fantastic for your career (and wallet) prospects.
This course will teach you what you need to know to sit and successfully pass the TOGAF Certification exam (Foundation Level 1 OG0-091) with the help of accelerated learning techniques. It covers the entire Foundation curriculum focusing heavily on the Architecture Development Method (ADM) - the core of TOGAF.
The bonus lecture "Your Career Boost Bonus" will help you maximise your TOGAF knowledge and keep your motivation levels high to complete the course.
TOGAF® is a registered trademark of The Open Group in the United States and other countries.
The course has been created to take advantage of accelerated learning techniques such as
to make your learning experience more enjoyable and more effective.
It is structured into 43 lectures (primarily videos) covering the examination curriculum with supplemental learning materials including 15 Practice Exams & 10 Knowledge tests to test your knowledge in detail.
These are the areas tested in the examination curriculum, we will focus on helping you learn what you need to know to pass the examination. There are plenty of class-room based courses out there costing thousands of pounds/dollars and I am confident this course stacks up to each and every one - at a fraction of the cost.
What Will You Learn?
How will Accelerated Learning Help You
This course has near 4.5 hours of video and audio to help you make sense of the TOGAF specification. You can of course go off and read the specification on your own, but you will find the specification is written in a very dry (technically "correct") and difficult to consume format.
The primary focus of the course is to help you pass the exam by covering/revising the specific areas of the TOGAF specification examined. This will help shave time off your own study efforts but the longer term goal of the course is to help you truly understand, retain and apply the material in your career.
This is why the course contains Mind Maps, Revision Crosswords as well as 25 practice exams and knowledge tests.
The accelerated learning resources and techniques in this course will help you pass your exam but more importantly learn faster, better and build upon your knowledge in the long term.
What am I going to get from this course?
What are the requirements?
What this course is not:
This course is an accompaniment to the TOGAF specification. It is not a total replacement for study of the specification itself. It will however help you achieve your goals faster and learn at a deeper level.
Who Am I?
My name is Tom O'Brien and I am a TOGAF Certified architect. I am also a member of the Open Group Architecture Forum and have created this course under the The Open Group commercial license.

|Section 1: Introduction|
Here we can see how the course is laid out overall.
The left hand side of the mindmap shows foundational concepts and definitions for the TOGAF Foundation course. We have some housekeeping to run through with Before We Begin followed by a short introduction of what you can expect with the course.
Basic TOGAF Concepts is next and from this point onwards, the content delivered focuses on what you need to know to pass the Foundation Exam.
We follow this section with Core Concepts and then Definitions and Terminology, I know definitions and terms can be a little dry but it is important you know the meanings behind the language used as you will be tested on definitions and meanings in exam situations.
Following the Definitions and Terminology section is a section I call Confusion & Contrast. As you go through the TOGAF specification, there will be terms used which can cause confusion – for example Method Vs Methodology, Goal Vs Objective etc…
This section will dive into concepts which can give rise to confusion and we will dive deeper into the differences and meanings using contrast and example to clarify. Some of the terms and concepts in this section may be explained ahead of their use in subsequent chapters – this is as intended as it is the most logical place to site the section and can help prime your brain and learning for what is to come.
The ADM section is the true core of the TOGAF standard, we will focus heavily on this section in particular as it constitutes over 50% of the exam itself. The remaining sections from Architecture Content Framework through to Architecture Capability Framework will also be delved into deeply to round out the course.
The Exam Preparation section does what it says on the tin, you will find advice, tips and strategies for how you can prepare for the exam itself.
Each section has been constructed carefully to be followed in a sequential fashion, by all means skip around the curriculum but only after you have run through the entire course once.
I have 3 objectives for you with this course:
Reminder Regarding Bonuses
Last but not least is the Bonus Resources section. I don't want to spoil the surprises here just yet but if you are like me and you like opening up your presents straight away (even before Christmas day or birthdays), then by all means jump to the section sooner rather than later.
If you haven't already taken the TOGAF In 30 course, there is a free coupon link in the Bonuses section. I recommend you start there to get yourself familiarised with "How big the elephant (TOGAF) is".

Hello and welcome to the second part of the TOGAF® Certification course. To take the certification test you must have either:
The purpose of this course is not to run through each section mentioned above. The onus is on you to run through the specification in detail and familiarise yourself in depth.
You'll be asked to read through a specific scenario which describes a situation you would apply the TOGAF standard. You will then be asked to pick best possible answer. Bear in mind the 4 answers are created like so:
So, care must be taken when you are selecting the correct answer as the Distracter question and 2 somewhat right answers are red-herrings to put you off the scent and try to trip you up.
Just a quick note to prepare you for a little User Interface foible with the test taking software.
You'll notice how the scenario questions are long and you will need to scroll down to find the answers. Let's take a look at the first question in the test.
I am just clicking on the first answer for the sake of showing you this foible - it may or may not be correct btw so I'm not giving you any hints.
Select your answer and click on the next button to submit.
Notice how you are taken to the next question but the scroll bar has not reset itself to the top so you could be forgiven for thinking you have not progressed to the next question.
If you scroll up to the top of the question however, you will notice how each question is marked by the software itself in terms of 1 of 8 questions and with a Scenario marker.
Apologies in advance on this but it's a little foible of the testing platform. It's not open source so I can't have a hack under the covers to try to fix it.
Hopefully this heads up will keep you on the straight and narrow with the test.
Now that's out of the way, it's time for you to take your test, just follow the link shown on screen or click the link from the lecture text and the best of luck to you:
If you have got this far and have not actually taken the practice exam, please do so now by clicking the following link (shown on-screen and in the lecture text):
Hopefully you will have passed the practice exam but if you haven't, don't worry. The following question reviews will help you understand the mindset behind how the questions are constructed, thus helping you when it comes time to the real thing itself.
The onus is still on you to study the TOGAF specification in detail. Alas there are no real shortcuts when it comes to getting to grips with the materials other than frequent study and repetition.
We will run through each question in a similar fashion:
1. A review of the question itself.
2. Asking what the question really is looking for (there can be subtle distractions and/or hints within the question body)
3. A review of each question answer and identification of the question score value.
In this way, you will get a good feel for the kind of "test thinking" which is required to pass the exam.
In terms of repetition, I recommend you schedule a calendar reminder with yourself to retake this particular test in a few days to reinforce the question methodology and see if you have remembered the actual answers.
American's have a saying "How do you get to Carnegie Hall? - Practice, practice, practice".
The same is true for becoming TOGAF certified.
