English Teacher

I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California USA.  I have been a teacher for 14 years. I have taught elementary, junior high, high school and adults. I've lived and taught overseas in Taiwan for two years and moved back to the USA to teach for another two years. I have a BA in Theater Arts from San Francisco State University. I have a TEFL, TESOL, and TESL certificate, and I am qualified to teach TOEFL test prep. I speak conversational Spanish and intermediate Mandarin. I now live in Austin, Texas where I enjoy teaching students online.

It’s a strong belief of mine that teaching is the most important job on the planet. Our knowledge is what we pass on from generation to generation. It allows us to flourish and advance as human beings. How are we going to know how to do something if nobody shows us?

I love teaching whether I am in the classroom, or teaching someone a new skill. It makes me feel like I’m giving back to humanity in an extremely profound way. Being a genuine lover of all types of people, I am eager to explore, travel, and experience new things. I am extremely elated to extend my career as an ESL teacher.

I believe my background as an actress, writer, Spanish speaker, Mandarin learner, and musician, will add a broad and interesting dynamic to my teaching style. I believe a successful teacher is someone who takes special interests in their student’s abilities, but also exposes them to new worlds. My goal as a teacher is to create a supportive, fascinating, environment. One that acknowledges different learning styles, encourages students to expand their minds, and reach their full potential.
