In this course, you will explore at an overview level “The 5 steps from Ow to Wow” so that you can reclaim your quality of life. This approach is designed for individuals who live with chronic pain and those who support them; either as loved ones or healthcare practitioners. Thriving with Pain LLC takes an all the above approach to pain management and treatment.
Explore through short presentations each of the 5 steps and get a taste of what a wholistic approach can do for you.
NOTE: This course does not constitute treatment for pain or any other concern. It is designed for informational purposes. Anyone with a history of chronic pain, if you have not already consulted a healthcare professional, should consult a healthcare professional for the assessment and treatment of your condition(s).
As well, this course does not focus on specific treatment or advice for chronic pain- these are topics to be examined in other courses. Our emphasis is on an overview of a whole systems approach to chronic pain and quality of life!
Living with chronic pain is challenging. Thriving with pain takes a certain amount of knowledge, skills, and tons of attitude! Thriving is about quality of life and enjoying life. Thrivers are people who are able to manage their pain and adapt in ways that allow for a fuller, connected and meaningful life. Through this process, pain can become less bothersome, intense, or less noticeable. Even if the pain doesn't go away, thrivers are able to enjoy their lives and get beyond suffering and blame.
You are the only one who can know your experience with pain.
Self awareness is a skill that supports the ability to be an expert on yourself and an advocate in treatment. Students will learn different aspects that are important to understand about pain and ways to track them.
Discover what mindfulness is and explore two exercises to gain tools for developing the awareness and non-judgement that come with mindfulness.
Pain relief and pain management can come from a variety of different modalities and interventions. Students will learn about the different options and things to be wary of.
Amber Rose Dullea is a thriver with pain! As a compassionate coach/healer, humorous speaker, interviewer and writer she shows you how to thrive despite chronic pain. Amber Rose was a licensed massage therapist in Oregon for 18 years, earned a Master of Art degree in Whole Systems Design from Antioch University Seattle and a Master of Divinity in Advanced New Thought and Interfaith, and a BA in a Special Major she designed in Peace and Conflict Studies.
Amber Rose created Thriving with Pain LLC to support people who live with chronic pain to move from suffering toward thriving. Through her own journey of a decade of chronic pain, she discovered the Five Steps from Ow to Wow! It is not an easy journey as anyone who is still reading this knows. But it can be done no matter what your circumstances. She has lived with chronic pain—she gets that it is not all in your head!
