This course is for parents and teachers who want to better support their 1st grade math student. This course systematically covers all common core math standards under the Number & Operations in Base 10 math strand. Each lecture gives hands on activities and games that you can do at home or in the classroom with your student(s). Each lecture also includes practice pages and websites for additional work within the standard. By the end of this course you will have a wealth of resources to use with your 1st grader to make sure that they are proficient in this strand of the common core math standards. Additional courses will be offered to cover the other three strands in 1st grade common core math.

This lecture will cover how to count from 0 to 100. Many 1st graders can do this, however it is something that they have memorized and they don't truly know each of the numbers and where they lie in relation to other numbers in counting order.
This lecture will cover counting on from any number, up to 100. The goal is for your student to be able to start counting from any number, without having to start over at 1.
This lecture will cover reading and writing numbers to 100. It is important to make sure that your student can read (using digits) and write numbers, in addition to the skills we have covered so far, which mainly include verbal counting and numbers.
This lecture will focus on numbers from 100-120. You can also revisit any of the lectures so far and complete the same activities, only using numbers up to 120 to be sure that your student has a good grasp on these numbers as well.

In this lecture we will be able to create and identify a number using base ten blocks in different ways. We will group 10 ones into a "ten" to see the "best" way to create a number.
