|Section 1: Algebra Basics|
This session discusses the basics of a slope and other key terms related to beginning algebra. This is an introductory session that will begin this six-part Mathematics course that moves from introductory to advanced topics in Algebra.
There are PDF study-guides available for you to download and use. One guide is a supplement to the video that addresses further basics of algebra. The other guide explains the process of simplifying and it's importance in algebra and your private life.
Further PDF study-guides can be found with the other Mathematics sessions.
|Quiz 1||10 questions|
This quiz covers ten questions to help you practice basic equations.
To help you get started, below is an example of how to answer a basic algebraic question, with the work shown.
Solve: x + 3 = 5
Reorder the terms: 3 + x = 53 + x = 5
Solving for variable 'x'. Move all terms containing x to the left, all other terms to the right.
Add '-3' to each side of the equation: 3 + -3 + x = 5 + -33 + -3 + x = 5 + -3
Combine like terms: 3 + -3 = 0
0 + x = 5 + -3
x = 5 + -3
Combine like terms: 5 + -3 = 2
x = 2 : Correct Answer: x = 2
|Section 2: Slope of a Line|
This session is a presentation that breaks down how to understand what is a 'slope' and how to identify the slope of a line.
There are PDF study-guides available for you to download and use. The guides cover the X-Y plane and the straight line quation.
|Lecture 3||37 pages|
This session goes into more detail about identifying the slope of a line. This is a PowerPoint presentation, so do go through this session at your own pace.
|Section 3: Factorization of Algebraic Form|
This session discusses the algebraic form and how to solve equations through factoring.
There are PDF study-guides available for you to download and use. Both guides cover how to solve equations by factoring. These guides are meant as study supplements to this video.
|Quiz 2||5 questions|
Below are five questions to help you practice factoring completely. You will need to fill in your answers to these questions. Please note that there are no spaces in the answers.
|Section 4: Pythagorean Theorem|
This session breaks down the Pythagorean Theorem and how to use the theorem in different situations.
|Section 5: Linear Equations|
This session explains what are linear equations and how to best solve them.
There are PDF study-guides available for you to download and use. One guide is a supplement to the video that addresses further linear equation support. The other guide explains systems for non-linear equations.
|Section 6: Mathematics Exam Anxiety|
This session discusses how math anxiety can develop and continue. It also covers different tips on how to reduce anxiety levels and to feel more comfortable with mathematics.
There is a PDF study-guide available for you to download and use. The guide is a supplement to this session that covers successful tips for mathematics studying.
