Course Description

Math Genius In 1 Day! 8 Easy Steps (also called "Speed Math In Your Head") will teach you to mentally calculate numbers with lightening speed, put you at ease with math and numbers, sharpen your memory, strengthen your focus and concentration, and boost your self-confidence.

Never been good at math? With just eight simple tools you will learn that math is not so difficult after all, and that it can actually be fun. You will be shocked by how fast you will be able to calculate large numbers in your head!

Having trouble focusing or concentrating on your studies or work, or even on simple day-to-day tasks? Math Genius In 1 Day! will help change this, because practicing the Speed Math Tools on a daily basis trains your brain to focus carefully and simultaneously on multiple tasks.

Has your memory been slipping a bit lately? Math Genius In 1 Day! will train your brain to hold in your short-term memory many more objects than the famous “seven +/- two" that experts agree the average person can hold at one time.

Math Genius In 1 Day! consists of fourteen brief lectures that outline the steps needed to learn the 8 basic Speed Math Tools. Each lecture includes many examples, slowly and carefully explained, step-by-step, by the instructor. Short quizzes follow each lecture, so that you will feel confident that you have a good understanding of the material. Additional practice problems are also included after each lecture, to allow you to practice on your own. An optional Speed Math training platform is also offered, which times and records your daily Speed Math training sessions, measures your progress, and keeps an ongoing, printable history.

In just a few short hours, you will be amazed at your personal development in the areas of math, memory, concentration, and self-confidence.

Curriculum

Section 1: Course Introduction *(SKIP TO SECTION 2 IF YOU WANT TO JUMP RIGHT INTO LEARNING)
03:56

In this lecture we explain "Speed Math", and discuss why it is much more than just calculating quickly.

Quiz 1
10 questions
07:22

This lecture explains how students of all ages, and in very different circumstances, will benefit in many ways from learning mental speed math calculations, not only in performing math quickly (after all, we have calculators and mobile phones for that).

Quiz 2
10 questions
05:21

"Speed Math In Your Head" is a course that will benefit students of all ages, with different objectives in taking the course, and with different styles and interests in learning, and at different levels in their understanding of math and numbers. As such, this course has been developed in a way that will hopefully appeal to all students. In this lecture, learn how this course is structured, as well as how to best follow this course to match your learning style.

Quiz 3
10 questions
03:00

Michael E. Bryant has more than thirty years of international business experience, and more than 10 years of teaching experience. His work experience and education have all required an intensive understanding of math and numbers. In this lecture, learn more about Michael and his qualifications to teach you Speed Math!

Quiz 4
10 questions
Section 2: The Speed Math Tool Box *(BEGIN HERE if boring course details are not important)
08:39

In this lecture you will learn to bridge the gap between Speed and Accuracy, by using Speed Math Tool # 1 to learn how to quickly check our answers.

Quiz 5
10 questions
06:29

Multiplying the numbers one through nine, times eleven, is easy for most of us, as is multiplying the number ten times eleven. But what about larger numbers. Speed Math Tool # 2 will allow you to multiply any number times eleven, no matter how large the number. You will also learn why the number 11 is important in more ways than just math.

Quiz 6
10 questions
07:15

It is fairly common knowledge, at all levels of math, that 5² is equal to 25. No problem! Many people (but not really that many people) also know that 15² is equal to 225. But what about the square of all of the other numbers ending in 5? Speed Math Tool # 3 will be especially helpful in financial and business situations, as well as in memory training. Find out how and why in this lecture.

Quiz 7
10 questions
09:07

Speed Math Tool # 4 will seem like a "no brainer" for many of you who have memorized your multiplication tables. But for those of you who never mastered your multiplication tables, or who simply have forgotten them, this tool will make memorization unnecessary. This lecture will be a good warm up the remaining Speed Math Tools.

Quiz 8
10 questions
10:54

This lecture will begin to help you develop the most important skills for fast calculations, memory improvement, and concentration. Most of our cognitive skills rely on a point of reference. Speed Math Tool # 5 is where Speed Math starts to really become challenging, and where you will be amazed at what you can do!

Quiz 9
10 questions
04:53

Before moving forward with the next Speed Math Tool, now is a good time to discuss a question often posed by students. "Can you use Speed Math with numbers that have digits after the decimal point"? You will learn how to do it in this lecture.

Quiz 10
10 questions
19:59

We used "One Reference Number" to multiply two numbers that were reasonably close to each other, perhaps ten or fifteen digits apart. For numbers greater than ten or fifteen digits apart, however, the "One Reference Number" Speed Math Tool proves to be quite awkward. Speed Math Tool # 6, "Two Reference Numbers", solves this problem, and opens up huge possibilities in terms of large number calculations and expanded short-term memory retention. Additionally, without intense focus and concentration, this tool is almost impossible to use effectively.

Quiz 11
10 questions
10:25

Speed Math Tool # 7 is a great tool for multiplying, in the fastest manner, numbers that are within fifteen to twenty digits less than or greater than 50².

Quiz 12
10 questions
05:31

So far you have learned Speed Math Tools involving multiplication, which we have identified as the most relevant mathematical operation to increase your comfort with math, and to improve your memory, concentration and self-confidence. To add some variety, however, and to teach you at least one Speed Math Tool using a different mathematical operator, Speed Math Tool # 8 will use division to teach you a fast way to divide any number by 2 1/2.

Quiz 13
10 questions
Section 3: Sharpen the Saw
12:33

This lectures pulls all of the elements of the course together by reminding you of what you have learned in the course, and by offering suggestions on how to keep the skills you have learned fresh. Learning new skills, without practicing them and USING them on a regular basis, will result in wasted time and effort in learning the skills.
