98% of the small businesses we work with don't have a well thought out 1 Year Goal. And then they wonder why they have not been hitting their financial goals/!?! There are SO many good reasons to have a well thought out, aggressive but realistic, measurable financial goal. Let's talk about all of them!
It is really fun to brainstorm all of the ways we are going to make money. But when you are running a business you have to truly understand your Expenses. So- let's figure out how much money you have to make- just to break even.
Alright- NOW we get to talk about the fun stuff- how you are going to make money! Understanding the breakdown of where all of your money comes from and what parts of your business are best to grow helps you make really strategic decisions as you build out the rest of your plan.
This little equation is going to change your life! Instead of the financials of your business seeming overwhelming and confusing- you are literally going to be able to evaluate your business model and make choices on the very best ways for you to increase your revenue- and profit- as you go through this.
With all of the information you have organized so far (your expenses, revenue streams, % breakdown of your revenue, sales prices and variable costs) - you now have a full picture of your business. And now it is time to play! You can run scenarios and do various things to see what the very best way to grow your business is.

You plug in all of your numbers and it will do the calculations for you to make it easy to try different scenarios, change things around and figure out the best way to grow. Now that we fully understand how we don't have nearly enough time or money to do everything we want to do and we understand how many sales we have to make (agh!)- it is time to figure out how to get really really really focused on WHO our Ideal Client is. Being clear about who you need to connect with will save you a fortune and increase your sales.
It isn't enough to have a "target market" - we want to know how old your Ideal Client is. If your Ideal Client is male or female. How they get to work every day. What their hobbies are. And more! Let's figure out exactly who your Ideal Client is!
Now that you know who your Ideal Client is - what are you going to do about it? You can completely transform how you are operating and how you make decisions when you have this information. We are going to talk about how to make smarter business decisions with this information.

Now we know what your big SLAPstatement is, how many sales you have to make in the next year and who you need to make those sales to. It is time to start figuring out HOW we are going to connect with your Ideal Client to hit your 1 Year Goal and live out your SLAPstatement. Let's get into Action!
You are going to break your year into 4 Quarters, understand how what is happening in the world impacts your business and start to evaluate the 8 Connecting Strategies that we use to help you hit your Goals. Learn about Events, Media and Referrals as you start to figure out which of the 4 Connecting Strategies you are going to use in your SLAP.
There are still 5 more Connecting Strategies to go! Learn about Branding & Identity, Loyalty, Online Connecting, Partnerships and Incentive Based Sales before you choose your Top 4!
Once you have chosen your Top 4 Connecting Strategies you have to take that big 1 Year Goal and break it into Quarterly Goals. And then each of your 4 Quarters breaks into 3 Months and we have to figure out what Action Items we are going to do each month to set us up for the best possible success.
We are almost done!!!!! Now that we have all of this information- what do we do with it? How does it all work together?? Let's tie this all up with a pretty little bow!

Now- time for you to get to work to build YOUR Action Plan! We have included some tools to help you. First, download the SLAPsummary One Pager. This is a one page summary of all of the key choices that you have made as you have built your Action Plan. Fill in all of the blanks. If there is something that you do not know the answer to- go back to that section and dive back in. Then, we have included templates with standard Action Items for each of the 8 Connecting Strategies. You can use these as a base to help get you started with your Monthly Action Items.
Don't spend all this time just BUILDING a Plan. Make sure you put structure, accountability and resources in place so that you ACTION it. Action is more important than a Plan. You are at the end of SLAPbootcamp- but this is just the beginning of your SLAP journey. We want to help you Execute this plan and hit your goals. No excuses. It is time to grow!
