Use VideoScribe or something else to get attention
VideoScribe can help you create engaging and animated videos quickly and easily. You can animate text and images and synchronize the animations to a voice over. It is technically not difficult to create these animations.
Record Powerpoint Slides to quality video
Prepare your Powerpoint Slides and simply record them with a voice over. It is important to make sure that the audio that you are recording is clear and audible. Recorded Powerpoint Slides in video form can help you get your message across to the user quickly and easily.
Record Video that is relevant to the subject that you are trying to teach
For example, if I wanted to teach cooking, I would record myself preparing ingredients and cooking the dish. If I wanted to teach piano playing, I would record myself playing the piano, of course. If I wanted to teach software skills, I would record demonstrations of software usage using a screen capture program.
Use different forms of electronic media where appropriate
This can be in the form of text, images, MP3 files, Microsoft Word files, PDF files or any form of electronic media that is relevant to the subject being taught. Note that some people prefer to learn by reading rather than by watching a video.
Deliver your content through the LMS or online
I love the Udemy platform and I think that it is a great Learning Management System. However, the choice of delivery is really up to you. Remember to structure your content well so that it is bite sized and easily understood by the person who is viewing it.
In this lecture, I introduce the popular Udemy Platform and present some modules that we have developed and published on this platform.
Udemy is mainly an asynchronous e-learning platform. This means that the teacher and students are not online at the same time. Thus, it is important to post high audio video with clear narration in order to get your message across to your students or audience.
Find out how to do simple setup for recording your e-learning materials. I am using a Zoom H1 Handy Recorder and a MacBook Pro.
Here, I demonstrate a quick improvised method of reducing the amount of background sounds, in particular aircon sounds. Basically, it involves putting a pillow in a box.
It is important to check the sound quality of your recordings.
Which do you prefer? The mike in the box with the pillow, mike in the box without the pillow or just the mike on the table?
This lecture describes the general steps in preparing e-learning content for production and publishing.
I think that Scripting is a very important step. It will save you tons of time if you have a properly prepared script when recording. Of course, if you are familiar enough with the material you can record without a script but there might be that occasional pause when you stop to think.
In this lecture, I describe how to record Powerpoint Slides and use this as video as part of your E-Learning content.
If you are using a Mac, you can use QuickTime to record your computer's screen.
In this lecture, I discuss the straightforward but useful method of presenting E-learning material using simple Text and Images.
In this lecture, we look at the Mashup feature that is available in Udemy.
In this lecture, we look at how Excel spreadsheets can be used to teach financial concepts.
You can also use screen capture to demonstrate the use of online web resources.
A carefully prepared Case Study is also very useful to teach concepts.
