|Section 3: Getting Started with SAPUI5 Development|
For Eclipse based SAPUI5 development, we have to download Eclipse IDE compatible to our operating system and then add the Eclipse plugin from SAP repository.
When we create a new SAPUI5 application development project, we have to select between sap.m or sap.ui.commons library. sap.m is a responsive UI5 library for mobile interfaces and tablet user interfaces and it is the most widely used.
In an UI5 Application project we have to include sap-ui-core.js file which makes all SAPUI5 libraries available to the project .
Generally in index.html page the entire application is placed on a single DIV element which then is controlled by UI5 libraries .
An UI5 application is based upon MVC framework where the look and feel of the application is taken care by the Views and all operations are controlled by the Controller. A single pair of View and Controller have the same names .
We have to add UI5 components in view and code the operation logic to pass the data and operations in the controllers .
Controllers can have functions, which can be attached to events of elements present in Views.
We can access any element from its unique ID which is almost always the first parameter in its instantiation.
For checking errors or debugging, web browser console is used.
