Section 1: Introduction to SAP BPC

Section 2: Basic terms of BPC and difference between Master & Transaction Data

Terminology is important to know before appearing a course. This video explains you various terminology in SAP BPC. There are several terms like Environment,Dimension,Members and so on. They are discussed in detail in the video.

Section 4: Hands on with SAP BPC System - Practical sessions

This Lecture gives you an overview of different screens in BPC like GUI-WEB & EPM and its purpose. With this session you will be able to understand for which kind of activity which screen to access. This will help you to understand further sessions easily.


You create an environment via the Web Client. You can only create an environment using another environment as the basis. When the system is initially installed, an environment with the technical name ENVIRONMENTSHELL is available. This serves as a reference for creating other environments in the system. We caution you against making any changes to ENVIRONMENTSHELL; instead, use it to create a new environment and customize that environment for the application. You should have system administrator access to create an environment.

Dimensions represent the master, text, and hierarchy data for each of the business entities (e.g., accounts, company codes, and categories). Dimensions belong to the environment in which they are configured. Note that dimensions cannot be used or shared across environments.


There are three ways to maintain Master Data.

1. Manually feeding the data in Dimension.

2. Uploading the Master Data into Dimension from Flat File.

3. Extracting data from Business Warehouse/Business Intelligence(BW/BI) Master Data Object into BPC Dimension.
