Meet the trainer, civil engineer Mounir Hammad, with 26 years of experience teaching Autodesk software like AutoCAD and Revit; he holds certifications in AutoCAD, Revit Architecture, Revit Structure, and MEP.
Learn how building information modeling (BIM) and Revit's parametric, intelligent elements transform drafting from CAD into an integrated, file-based workflow with automated drawings and clash detection.
Explore the Revit interface, including architecture, structure, and systems tabs, project browser and views, then learn to navigate with zoom, pan, orbit, and camera views.
Learn to start a new Revit 2018 project by selecting metric or imperial templates, access Autodesk cloud content, and manage files with open, close, save, save as, and undo/redo.
draw and select in revit using the wall tool, learn to place elements, apply temporary dimensions, snapping options, and selection methods like window, crossing, and filters.
Explore essential modifying commands in Revit Structure 2018, such as move with constraints, copy, rotate, mirror, and linear and radial arrays.
Start a new Revit project from a structural metric template, configure project info, units, and snaps, then create and rename levels and grid lines for a structural model.
Master structural columns in Revit Structure 2018, duplicating and customizing concrete and circular columns, placing them via grid intersections, and adding slanted columns across floors.
Learn how to input walls in Revit Structure 2018 by selecting wall types, defining core and boundary layers, and configuring base and top constraints with precise centerlines and joints.
Master additional modifying commands in Revit Structure 2018, including line alignment with lock, arc radius adjustments, extending to corners, and underlay viewing level two edges.
Learn to edit wall profiles in Revit by modifying walls' shapes, ensuring continuous profiles with no gaps or overlaps, then preview the changes in 3D.
Add wall foundations under exterior walls by hovering over a wall and clicking, choose building footing (900x300) or retaining footing (600x300), then adjust and verify in 3d view.
Explore adding piers and isolated footings in Revit, including creating pier geometry, aligning foundations with topography, and modeling circular and rectangular footings for accurate foundations.
Learn to create concrete beam systems for one-way and two-way slabs in Revit, using boundary beams, gridlines, and center-based placement.
Create structural floors in Revit by applying slab thickness and offsets, selecting concrete floor families, and adjusting boundaries for elevator shaft openings, with 3D verification.
In this course, you will learn how to create a full structural model using foundations, columns, beams, beam system, floors. The course will show you how to prepare the model for Structural Analysis software packages, by defining loads, and load combinations. You will learn how to annotate, tag, detail, your model, along with creating and printing sheets. Other advanced topics will be discussed in the course like creating several types of schedules, how to import CAD files, and link Revit files, how to create your own family. The course will show you how to deal with Trusses, Bracing, Steel connections, along with concrete reinforcement. Finally you see how to deal with worksharing in Revit.
This course is built over exercises. You will have two sets of files: PDF files which carries instructions, and RVT files which will be your starting point for each topic. At the end of each video, you will be instructed to open a certain file to practice what you learned.
