Course Description

This course is for you if you're a fiction writer who would like to see your work self-published. When you have finished this course, you will have both a Kindle ebook and a printed book available for purchase on the Amazon store.

The course is structured on a simple step-by-step basis using screenshot videos. A supplementary ebook covering the same elements will be available to refer to offline.

I designed this course for novelists because the format of a novel is simple - a certain number of words divided by chapters. The insertion of images will be covered, but If you're writing children's books with images and wrap-around text, or non-fiction, then this course is not for you.

What are the requirements?

  • Students should have access to MS Word 2013. This course can be taken using earlier versions of Word, but some of the onscreen options may look different.
  • Students should be either about to start their novel, in the process of writing it, or have a finished book they want to prepare for conversion

What am I going to get from this course?

  • Format your Word document and publish it as an ebook on Amazon Kindle.
  • Format your Word document and publish it as a printed book on Createspace.
  • Re-publish your work as often as required.

What is the target audience?

  • This course is not for non-fiction writers who have complex styles and images in their books
  • This course is not for children's book writers who have lots of images requiring wrap around text
  • This course is for fiction writers who want to publish on Amazon in electronic and print format. If you have images in your book that you're happy to have centred on the page, that's fine too

Instructor Biography

Mark McKay, Published Amazon Author

I published my first thriller novel on Amazon in 2014. As part of that process I formatted my Word document myself, for both ebook and print versions. I learned all about what works when it comes to producing high quality ebooks and Print on Demand copies. I would like to pass on that knowledge to you, so you can feel confident about publishing your own novel, and so that you will know you can do it again for the next book.

I have a background in business analysis and programming. I like to keep things clear and simple, and I incorporate that approach into my Udemy course. My goal is to help you produce ebooks and print books of the highest quality.
