This course is a step by step guide to deploy a private cloud with OpenStack cloud computing platform and Ceph Storage cluster as storage backend to the OpenStack.
The students will be first given the Introduction of OpenStack, Ceph Storage before dive into the deployment.
The deployment will use Oracle Virtualbox, a free Virtualization software running on Windows 10.
CentOS 7 will be the base OS for all the Virtual Machine
There will be 4 main sections in this course,
2. Openstack Installation - Install 1 Controller node and 1 Compute node of Openstack step by step
3. Ceph Storage installation - Install 1 Ceph monitor and 2 Ceph OSD nodes with ceph-deploy
4. Integration of OpenStack service with Ceph Storage - Using ceph storage as back-end for Glance image service, Cinder block storage service and Nova compute service.
Introduction to Openstack. Brief description of Openstack key components and their roles in Openstack cloud computing platform
Planning the Openstack Cloud. Students will learn about 2 node Openstack architecture, the components and services installed in the nodes and hardware and software requirements to deploy it.
Installing the Openstack Controller node in Virtualbox. Includes Virtualbox VM setup, CentOS 7 installation, static IP assignment
Step by step System Environment setup of Controller node
