Description

Students will have the opportunity to create a presentation in Prezi and explore the educational benefits of the Prezi canvas and image-based learning.

In this course, you’ll learn how to create a new Prezi, navigate the 3D canvas, use each of the tools provided by Prezi, and import PDF and PowerPoint files. The course begins with a discussion of how to design an effective presentation at a strategic level and concludes with detailed direction for adding text, images, shapes, charts, diagrams and multimedia.

Be prepared to work! This is a hands-on course that will result in a presentation that's ready for your audience.  Reworking YOUR presentation on paper before transitioning to the online platform to ensure you maximize the use of images to support your message. Applying the basic and in some cases advanced techniques available through Prezi that will make your message memorable.

This session is perfect for current Prezi users who want to learn more about the science behind why Prezi helps students understand and remember big-picture concepts and small details, facilitators who have tried to use Prezi but gave up - either because the technology didn't make sense or the design/animation just didn't seem to work and any instructor interested in converting an existing presentation to a more engaging format.

You don't have to create everything from scratch if you don't want to! Prezi offers an opportunity to create charts (similar to how you would create a chart in Excel) and layouts (frames and path points already organized for you). Both tools can help you easily kick your information up a notch with a more professional and engaging look for your presentation.

Especially if your presentation will be used as a display, inserting audio to your entire presentation or just a few transitions is an easy and important addition to your Prezi. In this video, Amy demonstrates how easy both options are.

How do you want the audience to experience your presentations? "Transitions" in a Prezi are how the presenter moves from one part of the canvas to the next. Whether you're zooming in and out or moving  around the canvas, transitions are an important part of any Prezi design. This video covers the technical considerations in addition to some design recommendations.

Masking is a technique you can use in your Prezi to make something happen off screen in your presentation. For example, you might have a flower seed on your canvas at the beginning of your presentation and "behind the scenes" you can fade-in a full flower - without anyone seeing the transition. It's a very fun technique to surprise your audience.
