Do you sometimes get caught up in the excitement of going overseas on a mission trip and forget that you are truly entering enemy territory? Or perhaps have you done so many overseas trips that you consider yourself experienced enough to get the results you think are possible without being open minded enough to realize that there are divine results that are NOT possible without God's direct intervention?
If you want to go overseas just to have basically have the experience of a tourist, it's not necessary to engage in strategic prayer. If, however, you are being called by God to leave your normal safety net filled with all your self-reliant tools to do something only GOD can do, you must recognize the necessity of strategic prayer.
Participants in this course will be challenged to include prayer as a strategy in missions endeavors, not as an afterthought but as a necessity. They will learn not only why they should be praying but also specifically what they should pray and how they should pray it. As prayer is then incorporated into our missions strategy, God will do things that only He can do. And GOD is the one who will get all the glory!
Instructors are introduced as a background for why prayer is important to each of them.
Participants will be challenged with one basic question: When was the last time you asked God to do something only HE can do?
Participants will recognize that it is pointless to go forward with mission trips without God's direct intervention and power which is released through strategic praying.
Instead of praying non-specific "God bless so-and-so" prayers, participants will learn specific requests to make on behalf of their people groups and missions teams.
Participants will be challenged to be humble as well as confident in praying and to pray both corporately and individually.
Participants will be given practical tools to ensure an effective prayer strategy for mission teams.
Participants will see a concrete example of what happens when God's people pray!
Missionary serving with the IMB for the last six years. We've had missionary experience on the frontline, working in both rural and urban settings. We utilize oral strategies and have seen it as an effective tool for both evangelism and discipleship in a variety of different places. We now serve on a training team where we help provide resources and training to both national and U.S. partnerships and help coach a network of missionaries in effective partnership for the purpose of reaching their end goals - all for His name sake!
