Everyone loves guitar
Everyone needs more music
And now you can be a part of the band , let's get ready to rock!
It's important to hold the guitar correctly to be successful, and the pick is just as important. Don't skip this important step in beginning guitar.
You'll be using an electronic tuner of some sort for this exercise in tuning the guitar. For most of us that will mean downloading a free app on your smart phone or tablet. At the same time we'll be learning six notes, the open strings.
The warm up! Think of this as exercise for the guitar. We're going to stretch the fingers out and develop some basic coordination between the left and right hands using the chromatic scale.
Let's get familiar with the notes on the treble clef staff.
We'll go over how many notes are in a measure of music, and what kind of notes are in each measure. Then we'll count them using a drum app or drum machine/metronome.
There are only twelve tones in the musical alphabet. You'll learn what they are, how to locate them on a piano or keyboard, and then how to play them on the guitar. You'll be able to find any note on the guitar after absorbing this information. The key to remembering the sequence, "Don't B.E. Sharp". The B note does not have a sharp and neither does the E note.
The high E string is our starting point.
Let's focus on the second string. Stay with me. Once you get these basics down you'll be reading and playing songs in no time!
You've learned six notes so far. E, F, G, and B, C, D. In this lesson we'll practice the
six notes as a scale, forwards and backwards, and then try to read a few tunes which
utilize only these six notes.
Let's keep going! The goal is to learn six strings in the open position. Let's do the third string now.
We're going to add three more notes now. A, B, and C. We'll practice our five string scale ascending and descending and try a short song utilizing these new notes.
Congratulations! This is the final lecture in this course. You've learned all six strings in the open position and how to read them. You are now well on your way to becoming a better guitarist. Please join me in my future courses and lectures. It has been my pleasure to be your guitar teacher. I look forward to seeing you again!
The below testimonials are not included here to brag or boast, but to illustrate how amazing it is to connect with one another through the arts, and to have the opportunity to use music to inspire, motivate, and bring a smile (or grimace depending on the song\,,/) to many people whom I've never met. It's those moments that drive my music forward to new territories.

totally love it. It reminds me of Joe Satriani. The flow is very melodic. Also
really enjoyed Takin' Back (track #8) and Wait For It (track #4). Lots of Paul Gilbert
influences in there I think amongst others. Nice production as well." - Nick Baldrian of Fireworks Magazine
