Let me tell you what you need to know about those versions of the Office Suite, especially PowerPoint and PowerPoint 2013. There are various differences between those versions of the program but the main change is that Microsoft introduced us to the "ribbon" system inside their programs navigation. The other big step was introducing the "Export to video" function in PowerPoint 2010 and above which is helping a lot in terms of video editing, animation and motion graphic design.

You do not have to know and understand everything right away. PowerPoint is pretty straight-forward, self-explanatory and drag & drop. You don't need to focus on obtaining any particular skill while working in this program, you need to get the idea behind how everything is working and then by clicking around learn things "on the fly".

Learn Things "on the fly"

With this brief tutorial I want to show you the most important things and places in PowerPoint. The software as I told is very easy to use and straight forward, but you might need to have an overview especially if you are not familiar with it. I will quickly run through the ribbon and the functions that are used in a normal designers daily work in PowerPoint.

Brief Program Overview

This will be our first serious PowerPoint tutorial where I will show you basic navigation through the ribbon and how to add specific items / objects / things inside a presentation.

PowerPoint Beginner - Workflow & Tips

It is obvious that the white area in the middle is our working area inside of PowerPoint...but what comes with that? Can we use the place around the presentation? Should we leave out certain things on the borders or is it better to delete them? This and more questions will be answered in this lesson!

Slides can be quickly rearranged in a presentation, so you do not have to worry if you changed your conception, want to rearrange anything, or simply shuffle the content you are presenting. PowerPoint has build in tools to deal and work with that.

Preview 03:18

The selection pane is a special panel which helps us to arrange objects inside of a presentation. Inside of it we can also rename the objects which we have on our PowerPoint 2013 presentation or animation.

Rulers and guides are very usefull if we want to make sure everything is balanced inside of the composition. They may help us to arrange things and keep everything precise. You can also create grids inside of a powerpoint slide which will make sure everything is really, REALLY properly placed.

Guides & Rulers

Right now images are used nearly in every presentation. Goodbye long boring slides and hello engaging and powerfull designs. Inserting and editing images is a crucial task inside of PowerPoint which we need to be aware of when designing a presentation or video animation geared towards motion graphics.

This will be the most important lesson of this entire PowerPoint 2013 Crash Course you are taking. Working with text is essential, important and CRUCIAL to master any type and kind of presentation you might make now and in the future.

Adding & Working With Text

The training regarding text is so important in PowerPoint that I did need to split it up in 2 lessons to cover all the neccesary and essential tasks there are to it.

Finishing Our Text Journey

Objects are just as important in any presentation as text. This is why this lesson is also crucial to follow and master. Training is the key to get better at a design software like PowerPoint and those lessons will help you to get familiar with the neccesary basics.

Adding & Working With Objects

Why not making a brief break to have a little bit of fun designing in PowerPoint 2013? Watch how I make a quick turtle inside of the program.

PowerPoint Advanced - Workflow & Tips
7 Lectures 25:24

We are starting to move around more advanced tips and tricks in PowerPoint 2013. We have an existing presentation of 4 slides which we can use to manage our transitions. Watch how I prepare transitions between those slides and manage their timing.

Transitions and Their Timing

Animating objects is an essential task inside of powerpoint. Once I explain what animations are, how they work and how to properly use them we we will go an animate the slide we created previously.

Animating Objects

Previously we have prepared a good looking PowerPoint slide which we should use and implement all the informations we've learned alongside in this course. We will use animations and transitions to work things out and prepare this real-world example. The techniques can be used and adapted to prepare any kind of slide.

Example. Why not practice on our slide?

Another interesting technique inside of PowerPoint is the possibility to record our presentation on the fly and share it with someone as a video. How cool is that ? We could for example record a voice over, export this file and hold a presentation anywhere without us even beeing there.

Recording Speech - Autopilot Online Videos

It's often also usefull if we add a music background across all slides. Why not taking a nice piece and putting it for use in our video?

Add Music Across Everything

Well that may not be an advanced trick but it is so essential to remember and know about this possibility that I had to record this lesson. Yes, PowerPoint is able to create a video and this is the #1 used feature righ now in my opinion.

Exporting a Ready Video

With this lecture I would like to show you an additional, bonus slide design to perform. It will actually be leaning towards an ad banner or poster design which could be used to advertise something, but this can be just as well a nice PowerPoint slide as any other graphic art. Enjoy this little tutorial, a couple of useful tricks shown here and there to remember!

Engaged and Passionate PowerPoint & After Effects instructor

Hi! My name is Andrzej Pach, more known as "Nigel" and I spend my time with graphic design, motion & animaiton, typography, video editing and online teaching on a daily basis. The majority of my work is done in Adobe After Effects & Microsoft PowerPoint 2013 / 2016 - naturally this is the software I want to teach about and share my experience with you. I have completed well over 3000 graphic projects (On Fiverr alone more than 2500 reviews) for clients, mostly including video animations like intros, outros and transitions for various Youtube channels & marketers. I would like to share the knowledge I was able to "stack up" during the process. I am always willing to help people out by enhancing their brand and Internet media.

Who am I ?

I am a 27 y.o (born 1989) and a University Graduate (July 2014). A few years back after shifting from one hobby to another after getting hired to prepare a website and business card for a local business in my area I finally "felt it". Since then (2011) I was expanding my skillset in this area completing various graphic related projects. Places like the WarriorForum, freelancing websites or graphic contests across the web caught me in its own snare and never let me go.

What is the next step?

After having several years of experience as a freelancer with a keen focus on creativity handling various projects ranging as work for very small businesses to websites and Youtube channels with over 300k subscribers I am looking forward to share my knowledge wrapped up in exciting courses easy to follow and most important - USEFUL for you! I am looking to work with forward-thinking people who wish to create something original, that will reinforce their brand and follow their vibe. I am always committed to provide value while giving away random tips to make your workflow easier.

Did you really create something?

How far would bring me lying and any sort of scam? Nowhere. I do believe in making the Web Business and Internet Marketing world a better place, because my actions will affect my fellowers, friends, family and future children. Since I live in a small village where people work in agriculture or do physical labor work I set the goal for me to be a sort of pioneer in the web-based business field growing myself as a designer every single day.

You can always contact me as I don't mind talking to anyone and sharing how could I help your business or what course I might record if you like my teaching style!
