  • How to tap into your higher mind (higher self) to always know the truth and become your own authority.

This course is presented in six modules designed to be taken over about six weeks. Ideally I would like you to practice the techniques you learn in each module for about a week before progressing to the next module. Some may choose to first view the entire course, and then start practicing the techniques described in each module.

Each module contains a powerful guided meditation containing brainwave entrainment tracks to deepen your practice and help induce your relaxation response. These guided meditations are each designed to promote a specific process for healing the body and mind. I recommend you listen to the guided meditations in a quiet place using earphones or earbuds to get the maximum effect.

As the modules progress, the guided meditation techniques become more advanced. Theses advanced meditation techniques are most effective if you master the basics of meditation and mindfulness taught at the beginning of the course. These basics include diaphragmatic breathing, engaging present moment awareness, and inducing the relaxation response.

For each of the more advanced guided meditations, I've included a downloadable ebook to help you fully understand the intention and process.

I've taught this course in live workshops, and here is feedback from one of the participants.

"I initially signed up for Dr. Holden's course in order to improve at meditation -- but ended up getting so much more out of it! Dr. Holden describes the latest findings in neuroscience, and the various ways our mind affects our health, in a way that is easy to grasp. The course is a veritable fountain of useful information. It also covers many different techniques for rewiring your brain including, of course, the excellent guided meditations. So it's a bit like getting a user's manual to your brain, complete with a hands-on tutorial. I feel that I benefited tremendously from everything I learned in the course (in many ways, it was what you'd call a "paradigm shift"), as well as the meditation practice. I was also very inspired by the example of Dr. Holden himself, who has greatly improved his own health using the same tools and information that he's offering us. I highly recommend this course to anyone interested in meditation, the healing powers of their own mind, or simply in getting healthier!" N.Z. Jacksonville, FL

Learning and practicing information provided in this course DOES NOT create a doctor-patient relationship between you and Keith R. Holden, M.D.

What are the requirements?

  • You need an open mind and a desire to improve your life and the lives of your patients and clients.

What am I going to get from this course?

  • Understand the science of mind-body medicine.
  • Understand the layers of consciousness of your mind and spirit and how they influence your body.
  • Harness the power of your conscious and subconscious mind to optimize your emotional and physical health.

What is the target audience?

  • Healthcare practitioners who wish to understand the science behind mind-body medicine, and learn unique tools to assist your patients and clients in their recovery from illness.

As I’ve pointed out, everything is energy.

The paradox is that even empty space is made up of energy. Energetic particles permeate our entire universe.

Everything in your body is a form of energy, including your thoughts, as the energy of consciousness. And that is one reason why prayer is effective for healing.

So the just of this guided meditation is:

I’ll get you to place your attention on empty space. This gets you out of your monkey mind, and starts to increase the amount of alpha waves in your brain. And as I teach in module 4, a predominance of alpha waves is associated with relaxation.

I walk you through the process of becoming aware of the space within your body. We go deeper and deeper until you become aware of the space between your DNA.

I have you become aware of this space as the energy of your consciousness. There is incredible love here because there’s no judgment once you allow yourself to enter this space.

I walk you through the process of merging the energy of your consciousness with the energy of Divine consciousness. Because it is here where miracles occur.

I left a little over three minutes of music at the end of this guided meditation for you to use that time to visualize whatever miracles you choose to create in your life.

OK have fun with it!

Section 3: Making the Science of Heart Consciousness Work for You

The consciousness of your heart:

  • Helps regulate your autonomic nervous system.
  • Is a primary receiver of nonlocal intuition.
  • Emits a very large electromagnetic field, which contains information.

Use the power of the electromagnetic energy contained in the consciousness of your heart to shift your experiences!

Learn to "unplug" from people when you are a highly sensitive person (empath) by using a higher awareness honed through mindfulness and meditation.

Information about a leading mind-body institute.

Fascinating science that shows the heart has its own brain and endocrine system, and why this is important.

Hear rate variability is the variation of time intervals between heartbeats.

A healthy heart has more variability between beats.

Heart rate variability also reflects the level of balance in your autonomic nervous system (autopilot) and your emotions.

The consciousness of your heart is the key to nonlocal intuition.

Nonlocal intuition occurs when you perceive information about a future or distant event, which is not based on reason or memories of a prior experience.

Details of the two clinical studies that scientifically prove this phenomenon are found in this lecture's Resources section.

Your emotions are reflected in heart rate variability via your autonomic nervous system.

Emotions shift your autonomic nervous system into stress (incoherence) or relaxation (coherence).

The consciousness of your heart can help you process negative emotions thus shifting your autonomic nervous system into better balance.

The basis of transmuting negative emotions with the consciousness of your heart and a quick review of homework for module 3.

      Key points:

      1. Your heart mind is the seat of unconditional love.
      1. Sitting mindfully with a negative emotion by using your heart consciousness can lead to a healthy processing of this emotion.

Section 4: Understanding Brainwave States and Removing Limiting Beliefs

Introduction to your subconscious mind.

Overview of brainwaves.

Overview of brainwave entrainment.

Health benefits of brainwave entrainment.

Discerning beliefs versus truths.

Removing limiting beliefs from your subconscious mind.

Your subconscious mind:

  • Is a memory bank for ALL of your life's experiences.
  • Is like a super computer.
  • Participates in filtering all of your life's experiences.
  • Helps regulate what you are not consciously aware of.
  • Is intimately related to your autopilot - autonomic nervous system.
  • Can impact your physiology without you even being consciously aware of it.
  • May hold limiting beliefs.

Overview of the different types of brainwaves:

  • Gamma
  • Beta
  • Alpha
  • Theta
  • Delta

Gamma waves:

  • creativity
  • flow states
  • language
  • memory processing

Beta waves:

  • anxiety
  • focus
  • concentration

Alpha waves:

  • waking up
  • falling asleep
  • meditation
  • subconscious processing

Theta waves:

  • light sleep
  • dreaming
  • deeper meditations
  • self-hypnosis
  • subconscious processing

Delta waves:

  • deep sleep
  • deep healing
  • brain detoxification
  • parasympathetic nervous system predominance

Brainwave entrainment - synchronizing brainwaves with a repetitive stimulus.

Binaural beats and isochronic tones are embedded in tracks to help entrain brainwaves.

Alpha and theta brainwave entrainment can facilitate deeper meditative states.

Be sure to download the web resources guide in this lecture for tools to assist you in meditation.

A review of clinical studies showing the health benefits of brainwave entrainment as a therapeutic tool.

Brainwave entrainment:

  • improves standardized test scores in ADHD
  • improves behavior in children with learning disorders and ADHD
  • reduces pain
  • reduces tension headaches and migraines
  • reduces symptoms of premenstrual syndrome

Binaural beats in brainwave entrainment:

  • two tones of slightly different frequencies are played in the right and left ears
  • the brain processes the difference between the two and entrains to that frequency
  • headphones are necessary

Isochronic tones in brainwave entrainment:

  • single audio tone set to a specific frequency is rapidly turned off and on
  • brain entrains to this repetitive tone
  • may be more effective than binaural beats
  • headphones are not necessary

A belief does not always equate with a truth.

Why it's healthy to be open to the possibility of changing your beliefs.

Discernment is required to know the difference between a belief versus a truth.

Discernment is intimately associated with intuition.

Limiting beliefs may originate in childhood and be stuck in your subconscious mind.

Three basic questions to ask yourself in discerning if a belief is a truth:

  1. Does this belief serve my highest good?
  2. Is this belief holding me back in any way?
  3. Do I absolutely know it to be true?

Testing for limiting beliefs by using positive core affirmations:

  1. Say a positive core affirmation out loud. I provide these for you in the next lecture.
  2. Does it feel right or resonate with you when you say it out loud?
  3. If not, you may be holding a limiting belief in your subconscious mind regarding his core affirmation.

Then I introduce you to a process for removing this limiting belief from your subconscious mind.

Section 5: The Mind as Healer - Making the Placebo Effect Work for You

Your body has a very intelligent built-in healing system.

Placebo - a substance containing no active substance or a sham procedure with no active procedure.

A placebo is used as a "control" in clinical studies to help test for the true effectiveness of a medication or procedure.

Placebos can be as effective or even more effective than real medicine or real procedures.

The healing power of belief - the power of your mind - is the placebo effect.

Science of the placebo effect:

  • psychobiological phenomenon
  • starts in the brain - really the mind
  • results in clinical improvement
  • is intimately tied to the ritual of the therapeutic act

The ritual of the therapeutic act is a key player in the placebo effect and includes:

  • beliefs and expectations
  • memories of prior therapies
  • sight of practitioners and healthcare facilities
  • interactions of other people and patients
  • syringes or other medical devices
  • color, taste, and smell of medications
  • words of doctors and other healthcare providers

The nocebo effect is:

  • the opposite of the placebo effect
  • begins in the mind and triggers the brain to respond
  • has negative impacts on physiology
  • results in clinical worsening
  • triggered by negative suggestions and negative expectations

The placebo's impact on your brain:

  • activates certain areas of the brain
  • causes the release of specific neurotransmitters

Placebo research proves your body memorizes a drug's effect.

The placebo's effect can be quantified based on the type of suggestion given.

Medications contain an inherent placebo effect.

Increasingly positive information given with medication OR a placebo boosts its effectiveness.

I discuss an amazing clinical study that shows a placebo can suppress your immune system through behavioral conditioning.

I discuss a clinical study that shows how a placebo can improve Parkinson's Disease.

The psychological components of the placebo effect can be used to your benefit by:

  • setting expectations for getting well in your meditations, which reduces anxiety and turns on your inner physician by increasing parasympathetic tone in your autonomic nervous system
  • learning through conditioning yourself to feel what it is to be well in your meditations, which shifts your physiology
  • maximizing the psychology of social learning by reading about or hearing about others getting well
  • reinforcing your expectations by using mindfulness and meditation to guard against negative thoughts

Section 6: Aligning With Your Higher Mind to Maximize Nonlocal Intuition

An overview of module 6 including a review of some important points of prior modules.

Why it's so important to learn how to discern beliefs versus truths.

Einstein understood the power of intuition.

Nonlocal intuition is a knowing unexplained by logic, and does not originate in the physical body. Nonlocal intuition is channeled through your higher mind from the unified field of energetic information that connects everyone and everything.

Science shows how meditation enhances your intuition:

  • long-term meditation enhances areas of the brain that have the potential to improve your intuition
  • meditation calms your mind allowing you to hear your inner voice of knowing

The consciousness of your higher mind:

  • is a spiritual channel
  • is unlimited in divine wisdom and love
  • only knows the truth
  • moves you from the lower energy of fear to the higher energy of love

Aligning the consciousness of your higher mind with the consciousness of your heart mind turbo charges your nonlocal intuition.

The process of aligning with your higher mind:

  • set a divine intention to align with your higher mind
  • acknowledge you are a spiritual being
  • view yourself as an infinite being
  • see yourself as an energetic being
  • set an intention to tap into the infinite field of consciousness - the unified field

The process of aligning the consciousness of your higher mind with the consciousness of your heart mind:

  • once you have aligned with your higher mind, set an intention to bring this infinite wisdom into your heart mind
  • visualize a stream of energy connecting your higher mind to your heart mind

You will know you have aligned with your higher mind when you feel unconditional love.

Sealing the deal of aligning the consciousness of your higher mind with the consciousness of your heart mind may require conjuring a feeling of profound gratitude.

Instructor Biography

I graduated from LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans in 1992 and completed LSU's Internal Medicine residency program in 1995. I'm board certified in Internal Medicine, and completed additional postgraduate training in Functional Medicine through The Institute for Functional Medicine.

Functional Medicine tends to work best for chronic diseases and conditions, often finding the root cause of the disease state, and correcting it to allow for healing and resolution of the illness. My training in Functional Medicine filled in all of the blanks that medical school left out.

I am a life-long learner and have explored multiple pathways in my medical career. I have done this because I get bored easily, and because I like to see for myself if something works or not.

In May 2014, I presented a lecture at the Accordo Health Institute's Spring Symposium in Longwood, FL titled "Power of the Mind in Health and Healing," which inspired the creation of my Udemy course of the same name.

In August 2013, I participated on a wellness panel and presented a lecture on how food sensitivities and gut dysfunction participate in systemic illness and autoimmunity at The International Association of Comprehensive Aesthetics' (IACA) annual conference in Calgary, Canada. I also participated on a wellness panel at IACA's 2012 annual conference in Hollywood, FL. IACA is an international group of neuromuscular dentists dedicated to advancing innovative oral health and practice management education. An article I wrote titled “Functional Medicine – Innovating Chronic Disease Care” was published in the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies' Fall 2012 Visions magazine.

I have lectured four times at conferences for the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M) on the biological effects of pulsed electromagnetic field therapy. A4M is a global institution representing 26,000 physicians and scientists from 110 countries dedicated to detect, prevent, and treat aging related disease and to promote research into methods to retard and optimize the human aging process. A scientific article I wrote titled “Biological Effects of Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) Therapy” was published in A4M’s May 2012 Issue of Anti-Aging Medical News magazine.

In 2012, I gave a presentation to the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) in Baltimore, MD on the scientific evidence of the beneficial effects of pulsed electromagnetic fields on osteoporosis.

In 2012, I presented a webinar for Cell Science Systems (CSS) titled “Gut Health and Systemic Disease.” CSS is a life sciences company and the worldwide leader in food intolerance/sensitivity testing.

For several years, I consulted for the Social Security Administration's Disability Determination Services in Florida and Georgia. I garnered numerous awards regarding consulting, advising, and teaching in this field including "2002 Georgia Disability Adjudication Services Medical Consultant of the Year Award," "2001-2002 Georgia Disability Adjudication Services People’s Choice Trainer of the Year Award," and "2004 Florida Disability Determination Services Medical Consultant of the Year Award."

I have a special interest in frequency based therapies and mind-body medicine, which emphasizes the influence of the mind on the body. My goal is to deliver best-in-class integrative healthcare education by staying abreast of the latest science-based evidence regarding innovative ways to promote health and well-being for all individuals on a global scale.
