Power BI Master Class - Dashboards and Power BI Service

You have built a Power BI report and it works. Then somebody asks whether they can see it on their phone, whether it updates itself, and whether the sales team can look at their own region without seeing everyone else's.

That is where this course starts. You will build reports people can use without you - the right visual for the question, slicers and filters they can drive themselves, trend analysis that shows where the numbers are heading - and then publish them to the Power BI Service, turn them into dashboards, and share them with your team.

WHAT THIS COURSE IS, AND WHAT IT IS NOT

Most of this course is about building a report people will actually use: the right visual for the question, tables and matrices that stay readable, slicers and filters that let someone answer their own question without coming back to you, and trend analysis that shows where things are going rather than only where they have been.

The last part takes that report into the Power BI Service - publishing it, building a dashboard from it, setting up alerts and subscriptions, and getting it working on a phone.

If you have never opened Power BI, start with Complete Introduction to Microsoft Power BI. If you want to go deep on data models and DAX, that is Power BI Master Class - Data Models and DAX Formulas. This course is the visual and publishing half.

In this course you will learn the to use the amazing Power BI tool to create dashboards and how to use the power BI service to publish your work. 

COURSE CONTENT AND OUTCOMES

• Build tables, matrices and card visuals that stay readable when the data gets big

• Choose the right visual for the question - column, bar, line, pie, treemap, waterfall and geographical

• Use slicers and filters at visual, page and report level so people can answer their own questions

• Run trend analysis with line graphs, trend lines and forecasting to show where the numbers are heading

• Use Visual Calculations to add running totals and period comparisons without writing any DAX

• Publish reports to the Power BI Service, build dashboards from them, and set up alerts and subscriptions

• Create workspaces, publish apps, and set up a mobile view so your report works on a phone

• Apply custom visuals and themes, and analyze your published Power BI data back in Excel

A NOTE ON COPILOT AND AI

You may be wondering where Copilot fits in. Copilot in Power BI runs on a Microsoft Fabric capacity, which is something your organisation buys and switches on - not something you can enable yourself. Most people learning Power BI do not have it, and will not have it for a while.

So this course teaches you to do the work yourself: to choose the visual, build the report and publish it. That is the skill that stays useful whether or not Copilot arrives, because you still have to know whether the answer it gives you is right.
