Course Description

*Please note, this is a continuation of my first two curriculum units in Geometry. To be successful, it may be necessary to work through the first two units.*

Now that you know the basics, we can begin working through segment proofs. Memorizing the properties, postulates, and theorems is necessary for success in Geometry. I have attached a handout to assist you throughout the lessons, but memorization of these Postulates, Properties, Theorems, and Definitions is necessary.

After competing this Unit, you will be able to use postulates to prove that geometric statements are always, sometimes, or never true. You will also be able to use properties of segments to prove segment relationships in a formal, two-column proof.

In this Unit, there are three lessons. These lessons cover: Postulates, Properties and Proofs, and Segment Proofs.

What are the requirements?

  • Students should have taken Units 1 and 2 before starting this unit
  • This is a continuation of my Geometry curriculum

What am I going to get from this course?

  • Use postulates to determine the validity of geometric statements
  • Memorize, identify, and understand segment properties, postulates, and theorems
  • Use segment properties, postulates, and theorems to develop segment proofs

Who is the target audience?

  • Geometry students
  • Geometry teachers
  • Adult Education (GED/HSE) learners
