Course Description

Create Profitable Membership Sites With OptimizeMember Quickly and Hassle Free

Last Update: March 2016

OptimizeMember is a fully functioning membership system .Giving you powerful features you need to run a membership site.

The Problem is that there are a lot of options, lots of gotchas and little training. In fact until you have created and launched a membership site you won't know what you've done wrong.

For example most people don't change the default welcome email at all. As a result it mainly gets sent to customer's Junk/Spam Mail Folder. If it does arrive the instructions just lead to confuse your new member, generating support emails and headaches for you.

Create It Right First Time...

The OP2 Member Master Course takes you step by step through creating a site the right way. Watch over the shoulder as a real life product site is created. Follow along step by step.

"I was worried it would not be detailed enough for a beginner…. This was a life saver! I had already purchased OP2 and was trying to learn how to use the Membership feature. Unfortunately, OP2 Membership does not come with detailed instructions and since I am a beginner, was very confused by the whole process and worried I had wasted my money on OP2. I was left to find my own resources for learning which was very time consuming. All changed when I found OP2 Member Master. What a life saver." - Julie Siomacco

"Ease of understanding, clear step by step instruction and completeness (all aspects of a membership site). I would recommend the OP2 Member Master because the training is complete and removes the need for trial and error." - Anthony Smith

P.S. Don't forget that using the OptimizeMember Missing Manual Course you will be taken by the hand step by step through creating your own membership site with OptimizeMember from start to finish. Giving you a product to sell that you are proud of. You can do it the easy way or keep struggling by passing up this course.

Section 1: Watch This First
Section 2: Make a Start - Easy Preparation to Save Heartache and Time Later

Before you make a start you need to plan how you are going to structure your site and make sure you have everything ready to go like a logo and paypal account.

One thing that isn't mentioned is planning to Drip Feed (releasing pages over time) . If you want to do this you need to consider two limitations of OptimizeMember – Drip Feed is for pages only and the time starts from your first registration date for any product. So if you have more than one product drip feeding will not work for the second product.

If you only have one product then you will need to split content into pages based on the date they will become available.

Section 3: Creating Your First Content and Setting Up Content Protection

Setting up initial levels and packages

Creating our first two pages, a product page and lessons page. Doing the groundwork by creating menus to make it easy to adapt and add later. Changing the restrictions to each page and finally linking up the lessons to show up automatically on the product page.

Adapting the template for the lesson. Using one row per video and notes. Using the tab element to enhance the video.

NOTE: You will notice I have now added numbers to each lesson title to make it easier to order the lessons on the main lesson page. Worth doing.

More adjustments to the template including introducing some navigation in the form of a breadcrumb.

Important discussion of duplicating pages via cloning or using presets.

You should find below OP2 downloadable templates that you can upload and re-use. You will have to set up the logo, products and menus but it may be an alternative to doing it all yourself. Please do not ask for support on the templates.

Securing Content - Adding The Missing Piece - The Login Page
Extra Detail For Securing Content
Styling For White Login Box

It is possible that your members will see the standard wordpress login especially when they registered initially. By default it has an OptimizePress Logo. This quick video show you how to change it.

One of the issues I had with OptimizeMember sites is that the welcome email ends up in the spam folder. It contains a lot of !!!!'s and isn't that useful.

Additionally the email asks you to register but you may already have done so. Again confusing and adds to support workload.

This video shows the changes made for you to adapt.

NEW UPDATE: There is an additional section on changing the email that members receive when they register which details their username and password. You will need to change this to use the alternative login page we have set up.

So far we have edited the restrictions to view pages on the live editor. However there are several other places this shows up. This video gives a quick round up.

What happens if someone tries to get to a page that isn't there. The standard 404 page not found page is ugly. This video shows you how to replace it.

Section 4: Taking Payment - How the Money Gets to You

This video shows the creation of a dummy sales page and changing the settings in WordPress to make it the home page.

Example Sales Page

Now lets go through the steps to Add A Paypal Button to your Sales Page. Including the steps to connect up your paypal account.

Full Testing of your button is in next video.

Now you have a paypal button connected to the site you need to test it. This video takes you through what you should see and the Gotchas along the way.

Don't forget to reset the price after testing.

Using Chrome's Incognito Window
Section 5: Email Autoresponder Wiring- Keeping In Touch

Connecting your Aweber autoresponder to your membership

Linking up member levels to mailchimp lists. The first step is optional if you have already connected OptimizePress to mailchimp.

Section 6: Protecting Downloads & Video

How to change the settings to support protecting files on your server. Then how to add a download element.

Extra Note: The hide alert tickbox stops the message to user saying you have downloaded X files in Y days.

Discussion on the different options for video protection. Why you shouldn't upload to your own hosting or use Youtube for paid content. Then a look at other options.

How to use the Adaptive Responsive Video Plugin with the Live Editor to embed Vimeo Videos. Which settings to change on Vimeo to give you maximum protection of your video.

I will replace this video shortly with a more detailed video on using Easy Video Suite. This gives an overview of how I've added EVS videos to an OptimizePress Page.

This is an overview walkthrough of the process of using Amazon S3 to host your protected downloads.

Amazon S3 is not for the faint hearted and OptimizePress/Optimize Member don't make it any easier.

This video should give you an idea of how it works in practice. There are more detailed tutorials on the OptimizePress training site.

I recommend using onsite downloads for Files and Vimeo or EVS for video and avoiding S3

Adding More Content - Over To You

Last Bits Of Blog Theme Changes

Organising Lots of Pages

If you have other packages on the same site and wish to sell an upgrade then start here. This video takes you through creating the upgrade buttons. They should be shown on pages where the user is already logged in.

How to show content (elements and rows) based on the packages someone has bought.

Introduces the plugin below to do the job.

Also looks at setting up the login page to act as an upgrade page offering the upgrades that are available.
