Take away point: Most children are ready to start solids between 4-7 months, around the middle of the first year. Be sure that your little one meets the guidelines listed and start when you feel ready.

Learn the differences between spoon-feeding and finger-feeding (aka baby-led weaning), and some of the benefits of finger feeding.

Take away point: There is no "right" way to do this. If you prefer spoon-feeding, then start there. If finger feeding makes sense to you, then try that. Or feel free to do a combination of both methods. No research suggests that children are significantly better off in the long-term with one method v. the other. This course includes more information about finger-feeding because it's more difficult to find this information.

The concern is greater for infants whose mothers were anemic during pregnancy and/or whose cords were cut immediately after birth.

Camille Freeman, Licensed Nutritionist

Hi there. I’m Camille. I believe that what we eat matters, and that how we eat matters even more. I have been in practice as a nutritionist since 2004, and work primarily with people who need help figuring out a holistic approach to reproductive health issues. I also teach graduate-level courses in Wellness Physiology, Pathophysiology and Pharmacognosy.

I have an MS in Physiology and Biophysics from Georgetown University, an MS in Herbal Medicine from the Tai Sophia Institute and a BA in English from Rice University. Despite all of those degrees, I still have to stop myself from enrolling in other programs at least once a month.

My Udemy offerings are the beginning of my own little revolution in clinical practice. I am planning to use the best of my experience as a nutritionist and my background teaching physiology to offer courses in self-care and whole-foods nutrition. My goal is to spread the nutrition love in an accessible, affordable format.
